Am I the only one who thinks Swizz Beatz sucks?

I've been thinking about this lately and from what I remember I never heard a completely "dope ass" Swizz Beat. I looked at his production credits and there was very little that I actually liked.

This has NOTHING to do with the Alicia Keys shit...LOL...

Well, IMO he's not one of the worst producers. I've heard some tight beats from him over the years.

Eh, he was mad overrated but he's had some dope beats. Nobody can produce a 4.5 star album entirely (Ruff Ryders Vol 1) and flat out suck. He stole some beats off Casio to jumpstart his career, used family as connections (he's Dee and Waah's lil cousin) and rode on style wayyyy too long. A ton of his beats DO sound identical, and he peaked quickly, but there's a million producers way worse than him IMO.

did some good beats for styles p...but thats all the credit i can give

I thought he also did some nice stuff for The Lox on We Are The Streets, but yeah, overall I'm not a big fan of his work.

Yeah, he actually tried to move to Miami for a couple years to get his career started legitimately, but when that didn't work he moved back to Yonkers and started dick riding until finally DMX peeped some of his beats. DMX actually argued over and over with Dee and Waah about "Ruff Ryder's Anthem", saying he didn't wanna rap over "that whiteboy bullshit".

I read it in that XXL interview where they had Swizz as the "hip hop motzart" blah blah blah. Actually it's funny because Swizz used his WORST beats for his debut solo album. That shit was gaaaaarbage.

My personal opinion, he was one of the dopest producers around from 1997-2001. As Ruff Ryders went on the decline, he started to do the same. But during that time period he was excellent IMO.

Ruff Ryders were very big at one time, but i would venture to say that DMX masked a lot of his weaknesses. As DMX declined Swizz was exposed more and more IMO.

Also, Lil Jon is easily better than Swizz Beatz. Whether or not you like his brand of music doesn't change the fact that Lil Jon is infinitely more talented.

Exactly. Swizz never declined, only the emcees did. That made his weaknesses more apparent.

This was big news when it first came out, but I really can't find shit on the internet other than other people on other boards talking about it. I remember this shit very vividly though, because I OWN THE GODDAMN KEYBOARD WITH THE PRESET FOR DOWN BOTTOM.

It's true Powell. They are indeed presets. If you want proof go to Radioshack and mess with the one(s) they have on display.

He did get sued by Casio. I don't know if he won, lost, or if it was settled out of court, but he did get sued...

In that interview, Timbo said he thought they settled out of court. Which would explain the lack of publicity after the lawsuit was over, if it was true.

Jeffrey in that interview Timbaland talks about Swizz being sued for "the casio thing" but he doesn't mention either of the 2 specific songs that your referring too...he only said "the casio thing" and Swizz got sued and settled....so obviously something happened between Swizz and casio...that much appears to be a fact...now whether or not that has anything to do with those 2 songs your referring to remains to be seen would you agree with that Jeffrey??

so as of RIGHT NOW until proven different I'm going to stick with Down Bottom being Swizz Beatz best joint as of today! this could change if casio created it and not Swizz himself!
