He's just another rapper marketed to females 14-22 imo. But hell, Im not the demographic record execs care for. Its all about selling music to the casual listener.

i agree with your whole post. To me he sounds like a kanye clone though, which is never a good thing, but the nick cannon comparison was good lmao. As generic as generic gets

I liked Sideline Story when it dropped, it's not a bad album.

You make some great points here. Although I do own his "Sideline Story" album, it's decent but I don't ever see myself reaching for it again. His underground material, specifically his "Friday Night Lights" mixtape was great, but once he hit the mainstream, he clearly changed on all levels.

So we can say he's a sell out ? I remember when Cassidy dropped his first official album. Even Swizz said that album was aimed at females cause dudes just buy DJ mixtapes and bootlegs. But Cassidy is a lot better than J.Cole. But they failed at marketing Case to girls, this is were they're succeeding with Cole

Nah, dude's not a sellout. Friday Night Lights dropped after he was signed and everything, and he dropped "Lights Please" right after The Warm Up. He's always been the same dude. Some of his shit is dope, and some isn't (like every single other artist) I don't like his female aimed tracks either, so I don't jam them. He doesn't have to be tossed in the wack box because girls like his girl ish.

If anything he's overrated. I wouldn't say hes even as good as U-God. But he's marketable. And thats were the art dies.

Cole is way better than U God lyrically. Cole just lacks the ability to stand out imo. He has talent and he is a student of the game but nothing about him makes you just have to hear more. I respect the dude and I like some of his music. but he's kinda just a average fish in a big ass ocean.

Thats a daam lie. U-God would crush him. Have heard a U-God album. Have you heard the song Lipton? UGod got his own lane. I wish the Rza would have spent more time on his projects like he does GhostFace or Reakwon

Everyone isn't for everybody but this dude isn't whack. I understand that your skills aren't based on sales but he dropped over 200,000 in the first week. He has some skills but I understand why folks would be turned off of him because of the singles from the album.
