The most overrated rap gruop in history. They are annoying and their fans are equally annoying. People cheer about how original they are and how great Tyler the Creator is. Need we forget about Pharcyde and D 12? They bit Kool Keith pretty hard,hell, they should cut him a check. Theres nothing unique about Odd Future, it they emerged in 94' they'd be just another rap group but hip hop has gotten so fucken wack they are looked at as messiahs. If you even break down their lyrics they're sub-par. Just say a bunch of random shit. Hell, Holocaust being that for most of his career but he atleast got a captivating voice.

Most "real hip hop heads" recognized them for what they are, and know most of the time their lyrics are sub par. KIDS are what hype them up bc they think they are different and thats why their fan base is so fucking annoying bc it draws in all types of kids who typically never listen to hip hop. You don't see grown ass men listening to Odd Future.

No, but the the fanbase the Black Hippy crew has built up is most puzzling to me. I mean, I can see why middle school kids would be drawn to the OF.

I understand that but their fanboys think they're the greatest thing since sliced bread. They swear they are such tight lyricist and so original. Man, there's dudes saying Earl Sweatshirt is better than Nas. These new kids are clueless of the pioneers. Man I like BusDriver but I know Pharcyde came before him. BusDriver has surpassed the Pharcyde but these new rappers are nowhere near the level of 90's era rappers. Kids need to recognize.

Odd Future ain't that bad. They are fairly creative, and yes they do shock value shit (and its been done before), but every generation has their own version of what the last generation did. Also, don't throw Black Hippy under the bus. While I'm not the hugest Jay Rock fan, that collective is THE BEST thing mainstream hip-hop has going for it right now, hands down!

Well I simply, completely disagree. I think TDE is putting out excellent music. I threw out the "mainstream" thing just as a qualifier, but I don't even know why because I don't believe it's necessary. I just think they make great Hip-Hop music, and they've been completely underground up until Drake gave K.Dot a track on his record (which pissed me off, I hate Drake lol) I was kind of hoping TDE would stay independent, similar to what OF did, but I can't fault them for taking an awesome offer from Interscope to make their label an imprint. Regardless of what ANY rapper says money is a factor, seeing as it is their JOB. I kind of got off track, but in closing OF is not wack, TDE is outstanding, and... I need a third thing to complete my list but don't have one.

I just bought Tyler The Creator's Goblin and it is dope as hell IMO. Sure his lyricism isn't as amazing some of his younger fans make it out to be and he's not doing anything that's never been done before, but I would definitely give it a 4/5. The only other Odd Future member I've heard is Earl and I wasn't impressed with him at all. I can't speak for any other members of the group but Tyler is definitely worth checking out.

They come off as being weird for the sake of being weird. They need to work on their flow too.
I guess its cool for young folks its brand new. I mean are we Brotha Lynch or Kool Keith. They're leaning more towards Kool Keith to me and I never really got into Keith like that. I prefer my Alt Rap closer to Tribe and Outkast. If they were a little more coherent maybe even Pharcyde.

I don't hear Kool Keith at all personally. They couldn't muster 1/100000th of his creativity.
What do you guys think about Frank Ocean coming out by the way? People keep asking about who will be the first "hip-hop" name to come out and it sounds like he has. I know he's more of a singer but he's affiliated and spits rhymes too.
