PostSubject: Heavy Rotation   Heavy Rotation Icon_minitimeMon 13 Aug 2012, 12:11 am

I find a lot of times that even though I don't find a particular album to be that great, I find a song or two that I want to bump a lot. Conversely, I have albums that I think are dope as fuck but have no songs that stand out individually that I put into heavy rotation (Son of Yvonne comes to mind).

I was thinking that maybe we could post some songs here that were in heavy rotation on everyone's respective playlists for the moment. We talk a lot on this forum about how good or bad ALBUMS are but never really discuss hot songs of the moment. If people like this idea, it can be like a Recent Spins thread but for songs. Let's try to keep the lists to a max 15 so it doesn't get too ridiculous. Also, embedding videos may slow down the thread so let's try and use links instead.

Anyway, here's some joints I've been enjoying for 2012 (in no particular order):

Apollo Brown/OC - Peoples Champ
Stalley - Petrin Hill Peonies
Sir Michael Rocks - Slice (Remix)
Nas - Trust
Oh No - Time feat Roc C and Chino XL
Madlib/Freddie Gibbs - Thuggin
Rick Ross - Triple Beam Dreams feat Nas
Frank Ocean - Super Rich Kids feat Earl Sweatshirt
Smoke DZA - Fuck Ya Mother feat Sean Price
Planet Asia - Bruce Lee feat Chace Infinite and Rasco
Big KRIT - Pull Up feat Big Sant and Bun B
Schoolboy Q - Hands On The Wheel feat A$AP Rocky
Jet Life (Trademark Da Skydiver/Young Roddy)- Blow Up
Brother Ali - I Can't Wait
La Coka Nostra - Mind Your Business

Yo PKT, that Sick Society track is dope! I've never heard of those dudes before. The Jean Grae track was alright, it was mellow, not the Jean that I prefer. Not that I'm really into her shit either, but she would be my first choice for a femcee.

And Trotter, def get Spotify man. As an unforgiving downloader, it has really changed the way I listen to music. I still download but now I keep it limited to what I have already previewed and I def want to hear in my car. Other than that, it's all Spotify. I pay the $10/month so I can have it on my phone but the reg version is free and it still pays royalties. It makes me feel better about myself as a person, lol.

You can get the Spotify app for iPhone, iPod, and iPad but you have to pay $10/month for Spotify Premium. It's worth it to me because I stream on my phone a lot.

Trotter, Spotify is just a player with a search engine that you download and install that gives you access to a gigantic library of music for free. You can listen to whole albums, make playlists and favorite songs. It also has a radio that works like Pandora and it has a social media function that allows you to access your friends' playlists and see what they are listening to. You can also link it to FB. The free version has intermittent commercials similar to Pandora.

Thanks for using links Lund, makes my research easier. I've been meaning to peep that New God Flow, it keeps popping up on my Spotify home page. I was a little turned off at first because they were both fresh off that I don't Like remix...smh.

Also, anybody else besides Highsmith check out that Hip Hop w/ Nas and Scarface? Shit was pretty dope but I thought it could have been waaay better if Preemo actually produced it rather than just scratch on it. Nas' verse is sick, tho. I can see a shit load of remixes to follow soon.

I have that album, and State of The Art. I got State Of The Art because I saw they had a new one coming out, which I also ordered. I wouldn't even have known anything about them if an Aussie chick I was chatting with back in the day didn't strongly suggest I check out Nosebleed Section.

Their production is bananas. The emcees are decent enough. Fifty In Five (from State Of The Art) blew my mind.

Yeah New God Flow is cool, but my favorite part is the end when the beat breaks down with the hard bass, Kanye goes in (not the drill sergeant lame ish though). I've heard almost every K-Dot fan I know say the same thing about Swimming Pools. Idk I like it a lot.
