Busta Rhymes Calls Gucci Mane a Talented Artist

"My thing is we've heard a lot of artists jump on Southern productions and I thought it would be interesting if we have a South artist jump on a classic New York production," he explained. We're supposed to challenge each other to bring out the best in each other."

Well, I obviously don't agree with his opinion of the kid. But, at least he's taking a proactive approach in trying to get the next generation on some quality.

"Talented artist" is a broad term of endearment. I hoping he means his hook writing and song making skills. I'm almost sure lyricism is not the determining factor for Busta's statement. Then again these cats say anything it seems once they get to know some of these whack mofo's.

I don't know, sounds like you are trying to read into it in a way to "fit" what you want it to. Busta called him "dope" and said he made an "intelligent" record with him. I think if he wanted to call him hardworking and good at catchy songs he would of said just that. And I get it, wouldn't make sense for Busta to diss someone featured on his album, but he invited him. I never considered Busta the pinnacle of lyricism or anything though so this is not surprising.

It pretty much seemed like he was saying Gucci's a hard-working entertainer who's skilled at working an audience. And Kevin's way more patient with radio emcees than most of us here.

Thats a very fair assessment. I'm sure I did. Becuase it really irks me when respected rappers give props to whack rappers.

Sometimes I think we just assume that good rappers have good taste in rap music.

I agree, though. Its his flow and beat selection that make me drop a few of his joints into rotation. And there is def a market for his shit, so why not?
