I don't have the new systems. And dont want them. I have a Playstation 2, but barely play it. As I stated before I am playing Resident Evil 4, but thats time consuming. It will probably be the last game of its ilk I'll play. I like the older games can to can easily PICK UP,AND PLAY. New games require you to learn the controls, sit through cut-scenes, learn the story. I just wanna play games in 15-20 minute increments at this stage of my life. I know they make new games that are PUAP, but its a bitch playing them on my iPOD 4.

I had Oblivion on my PC, but that computer died, and I didn't feel like starting over. Since then, I got ps3 and bought the game from a friend. I'm playing it now, but that's going on the back burner tomorrow, since Assassin's Creed III will take over my gaming time.

The first one is completely boring. Plays like a looooong training pack for their (then) brand new format. Very limited & repetitive gameplay where there seems to be endless potential. Boring, as I said, and frustrating (to me) because I expected so much more.

I've never played II, but I know a few folks who feel the same about the OG & they tell me the sequel fully delivers.

Speaking of old school games I find it funny that Japanese game developers created the first break trough sports games. See now Japanese software designers don't touch sports games. Or whatever they design now wont reach stateside. But Double Dribble, King Of The Ring, Tecmo Bowl, Pro Wrestling, TouchDown Fever, 10-Yard Fight,Blades Of Steelar came from Japan. Not to mention regular Ice Hockey,Baseball,Soccer for the NIntendo. Sure you had sports games on the Atari but they're not comparable. I remember the old basketball game that only had 2 players on the court.

Personally, I don't find the first one completely boring, but I can see how some people can. I let my brother borrow it, and he didn't care for it either.

The 2nd game is much better than the first. Pretty much, they just keep getting better and better. The "Ezio Trilogy" (AC II, Brotherhood, and Revelations) are pretty much similar to GTA type games in the sense that they're pretty free roaming. I mean, there are limits to where you can go, but that's the same as with any game. There's a good mix of platforming/climbing and roaming brawler style gameplay involved.

One thing I love about the games is the history involved. The first AC takes place during The Crusades, the next three are in Renaissance Italy, with Rodrigo Borgia (a.k.a. Pope Alexander VI) playing a MAJOR role. III will be in Boston and NY during the Revolutionary War.

I had no probelm leveling up. But I ended the game at like a level 40-50 maybe? Can't remember. I had mine on the PS3 and had big problems when trying to get into water after I beat the game. I plan to repurchase it on the 360 when they come out with the game of the year edition with all the DL content.

Have you played them?

I'm playing Oblivion. I started with a Dunmer that was magic heavy but I think I leveled up too fast and went directly to the Shivering Isles. Everytime I leveled up the difficulty increased significantly. Creatures I pimp slapped initially started taking 10 minutes to kill and a lot of resources. So I started over with a Redguard that was fighter heavy and stayed in Cyrodil and I'm doing much better. I'm basically trying to figure out the best way to level my character without leaving glaring vulnerabilities.

I haven't played Arkham Asylum but after watching someone play it, I bought Arkham City. That shit is really fun but its kind of short as far as the main missions go. Just like GTA, tho, there are a bunch of side missions that will keep you busy for a while. You get to play as Catwoman for part of the game, too. The coolest parts to me were that there is a lot of sneaky shit you have to do. You can't just go balls out and fight or you will get fucked up. Also, once you beat the story mode, you get access to story mode plus, which is the same story again but harder with some slightly different missions. I def recommend it.

Yup, it plays just like GTA except for sometimes once you have started a mission and you are inside a building, they won't let you leave the building until you complete your objective. Batman will say something like "I have to find the Joker" or "I don't have time for this right now". Other than that, you can roam freely and choose when you do your missions. Obviously though, there is somewhat of a flow, like certain missions will not be available until you complete others. A lot of the missions require you to roam about and go back and forth too, so it doesn't get too monotonous.

I've only played MGS and MGS 2, so I can't really say. Assassin's Creed isn't too much like either of those games, unless cinematic scenes to progress the story make them similar. AC doesn't overdo it like the MGS games though.

Based on Wandy's description, AC sounds closer to the Arkham games, but I haven't played those either. Well, I have played the demo for Arkham Asylum, but it was a demo...not enough to accurately compare.

Arkham Asylum is an excellent game. If you are on the fence, it's cheap as fuck now so just cop it. If you have any interest in the Batman comics/mythos etc. you'll dig it. One of the better games of the last few years.

I still need to play Arkham City though. When that shit drops below 20 bucks... I'm swarmin Amaa-zon

Both of those Batman games are must plays imo. Two ended too quick but I still enjoyed my time with it. One seemed a little longer and is just as good if not a tad better.

I was into Assassin Creed 1 but got stuck toward the end of the game and never went back to it. I played pt. 2 and lost interest quick. You need some real patience to play AC imo. The pace usually speeds up toward the middle but the beginning can be boring.

ACIII looks fucking amazing from the walkthroughs I have seen on youtube. It looks like they added pretty much everything that had been missing from the other two games. The mobility seems to have been expanded and the dual weapon attacks are fucking dope.

It looks amazing on my tv too! I'm not very far into it (not even playing as the main character yet) but I'm loving every minute of it.

Which one is the most recent? Arkham City? The most recent one is the demo I played. If they're both similar, I'm definitely interested, it's just a time issue at this point. Got ACIII right now, still need to finish Oblivion, I have Fallout: New Vegas that I haven't even played yet, Black Ops II comes out in a couple weeks...I'll definitely peep them at some point. Right now it's just a matter of too many games, too little time. Damn work always gets in the way.

One thing about the old-school games heads didn't really discriminate against certain genres. Like I wouldn't play a skateboarding or surfing game nowadays but on Nintendo I was fair game for anything. I loved Skate or Die, California Games, ect. Theres dudes that wouldn't touch those platforming games were your character jumps on top of giant flowers and shit they'd rather play games like Gears Of Wars. But in the old school we were all playing Super Mario Bros.

I think it was the Y button. I don't remember.

I've got to add Castlevania to the NES list.
