| Favorite to listen to. Not most influential....
1. RZA 2. DJ Premier 3. DJ Quik 4. Muggs 5. The Beatnuts 6. Erick Sermon 7. Rap-A-Lot production team ......Mike Dean, N.O. Joe, Tone Capone, Mr. Lee, Scarface etc. 8. Bomb Squad 9. Havoc 10. Pete Rock
J Dilla, Organized Noize, Madlib and Large Pro are close by.
Haven’t really been excited by anything Dre did since Death Row apart from a few beats on 2001..........Don’t really care for Kanye, maby if he didn’t rap on his beats I could give them more of a chance, I can't stand that sped up chipmunk voice anymore.............Never got the hype about Just Blaze
I like Timbaland’s beats but he rarely works with anyone I like…….Nearly all my favourite Stoupe beats are on Violent By Design……….The Neptunes beats on Lord Willin’ and Hell Hath No Fury are fucking crazy………..Swizz Beatz on early Ruff Ryders is a guilty pleasure…Mannie Fresh is cool as well but lacks replay value with me…………I respect Marley and Rick Rubin as pioneers but I don’t connect with them as much as the ten I listed.
What are your picks? |

I like the Pimp C pick.
Statik Selektah bores me these days |

| I really like just about everyone listed.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned Doom yet...
Ant deserves recognition, I don't love all of his music, but when he's on he's one of the best ever. And I like that he takes chances, even if I don't always like how it turns out.
Willie Green (Backwoodz Ent) is a personal favorite the last few years.

| Backwoodz got a lot of great producers working for them....Bond, Marmaduke, A.M. Breakups etc.
I didn't mention them cos I thought nobody would have heard of them.
Reminds me, El-P is up there as well
Ant is cool, Dynospectrum is one of my favorite from Rhymesayers |

| The first Atmosphere album I bought was When Life Gives You Lemons... and I was kind of turned off by that so I haven't heard a heap from Ant. Production was interesting but the lyrics were a bit too sensitive for repeated listening |

| Blue Sky Black Death's album with Holocaust is awesome. I would have liked that style of production on the Hell Razah - Razah's Ladder, also a good one.
I think The Beatnuts are the most underrated producers of all time. Never understood why Jay-Z and the like never got beats from them around the time they were getting Timbaland, Swizz Beatz tracks. They had plenty of mainstream appeal on "Musical Massacre" and "Take It Or Squeeze It"
DJ Pooh..........Nashiem Myrick & Carlos "6 July" Broady.........Sir Jinx.......Prince Paul is an Innovator |

I'm after more Dynospectrum, less Life Gives You Lemons You Can't Imagine...is my favorite as well. Strictly Leakage was a free album they put out and its a close 2nd. Leak At Will is my favorite EP. Lucy Ford is also really good.

| Yep, those are all good... Leak At Will seemed kind of half-hearted to me. I won't list the Sad Clown EP series, because I'm not even sure which I've heard, which I haven't. They're all pretty dope, though.
You Can't Imagine... Lucy Ford Overcast! (probably interchangeable with LF, real old school vibe) God Loves Ugly Seven's Travels (a mixed bag, the funky tracks are dynamite, some of the industrial beats I can't stand. Basically 1 or 2 tracks ruin an otherwise dope album for me. Unfair & irrational, but it's just how I feel about it) Strictly Leakage (didn't get into this too much, bad timing. Hip-hop was too hot at the time, it couldn't compete)
Also, as far as Ant goes... he did an exceptional run of albums with Brother Ali. Shadows on the Sun and Undisputed Truth are top shelf.

| The first three are the only ones I would listen to as albums, but they all have essential tracks.
Think of it, I'm gonna make an Atmosphere playlist on spotify. Are you on there, rez? You can just snatch that if you are.

| Thanks Game, Parker....
Realised I actually have a copy of You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having. Little fold out poster inside with a chick with her titties out smoking, haha. I've been listening to that one. Watch Out and the first track stood out
That's how much Lemons threw me off. I think it made me not want to listen to anything Slug was on. Sounded like he was making music to try and fuck teenage girls. If I hadn't heard Dynospectrum I don't think I would ever checked for anything else again. Maby if I was a fan from the start I would have been more open to Lemons knowing he could make shit I Liked if he wanted.
Listened to a bit of Lemons again. Ant has evolved but I don't like that style of production as much and I didn't like Slug at all on this. Not saying he can't rap I jsut don't feel like listening to shit this personal at the moment.
I'm going to check out samples of the ones mentioned.
I got Shadows Of The Sun. Excellent album. Room With A View is my favorite from what I can remember. Don't listen to it much though for some reason.
I'm not on Spotify. If i'm unsure I listen to samples for free. I don't think i'd have any restraint if I had access to whole albums and I want to get my moneys worth
You can still throw up a playlist here if you can be bothered. |

| Didn't we do a top Producer series too?
Dre, RZA, Premo. After that it could switch depending on the day or my mood and it's not really important.

Pete Rock can't produce greatness anymore unlike RZA/Premo/Dre, but his early stuff is great. Check his stuff w/ CL Smooth.

Even though he hasn't done really any production, Hattori Hunzo is one of my favorites mostly every track he's done I've loved.

| Toxic......I like the Juicy J pick. Why no DJ Paul though?
Mystic Stylez, The End, World Domination, When The Smoke Clears....and Project Pat - Ghetty Green and Mista Don't Play are all crazy. My understanding is they were produced by both of them though. That's all i've heard from Hypnotized Minds
Mikeoxlong.... buckwild made classics in the 90's. He kinda fell the fuck off after that imo.......I wish he gave those beats on 19NinetyNow to OC instead of Celph. Not that Celph didn't do a good job with them. I just think they suit OC better.
Mannie Fresh on "400 Degreez" is dope to me |
