| (sigh) I might as well review the new Rip tha Jacka album cause its not going to review itself. Well, if you're expecting anything like the first RTJ album than you'll be dissapointed not saying this is a bad album. The first RTJ is one of those rare gems that comes along once every 10 years. I knew this album wasn't gonna be the same carnivore just off the album cover which is one of the worst covers outside of K-Rino and MIC. But lets talk about the album for what it is. And its Bis spittin' raw, on some technical shit. With all the stellar releases of 2012 this slipped under the radar--eh, the radar just deemed this not worthy of picking up. The beats are on some techno-industrial shit, alot of this album sounds quasi dub-step. Like we get the DUB but not the STEP. The way alot of Bis vocals were mixed makes him sound like Max Headroom. For those of youse born in the late 80s,90s probably won't get that reverence. Why did Bis go with this technique for most of the verses on this album is strange. This is a very experimental album, I hesitate to call it a real LP. Funny, the Rip The Jacker moniker Canibus created for himself had the potential to surpass Canibus and redeem himself, but not with this release. I still give it a solid 7 cause Im a Bis fan and I like weird shit. Proceed with caution, this album ain't worth paying for. | |

This is a completely different animal than Lyrical Law, or any other album Bis recently release. First off theres no cameos, which kinda is a plus. For instance a lot of the verses are just some of Bis's older rhymes pieced together Max Headroom style. So this album is a experiment, not something you can ease into easily. If your a Bis fan it will eventaully grow on you. This was Bis first album after his humiliating defeat in battle. And he did briefly talk about that incident. But the highlight of the album was the last song were some professional sounding White dude was reciting one of Bis's verses. That was clever. | |
