I bought it, but it's pretty underwhelming honestly.

Off one listen it sounds pretty dang dope to me. Its nothing fresh or real original about it but if you like Ghost and the Wu sound this should fit right in.

I think it's good. It is kind of underwhelming at the same time, though.

It's good Ghost but has zero Wu feel. Doesn't sound at all like Wu.

I checked it out, and I was so amped off the first 3 sample tracks I was allowed to download off of bandcamp, I was expecting pure dope afterwards. The album was nice, but not as good as I hoped. That's okay though, The beats make up for it. The subject matter is what I expected, but I'm okay with my purchase.

GFK has never let me down and this is no exception. I disagree with the "zero Wu feel" allegation--I think this is in the same camp as "Cuban Linx II" going for the whole retro-Wu sound. Sounds like they were really imitating a "Liquid Swords" level of production. While I agree the concept is kind of half-baked it's cool to hear him at least try to run with one idea and a single producer.

Compare even one beat on here to a RZA beat. I'll wait.

Directly I would say it sounds like Younge made some of his equipment decisions from RZA's blueprint to the first wave of Wu.

Otherwise, I could definitely see most of these tracks coming from him. Not from the original 36 RZA, but he gets all over the place.

Also, this is growing on me. Way more ambitious, thematically, than I'd ever expect from Ghost. That all-in rhyme style is pretty much absent, so if you can adjust it pays off.

Well, it's his first ever album not on a major (and first not on DJ in ages, right?). Makes sense he'd experiment.

Well, I spoke on this album's amazingness in the Recent Spins thread but I'll weigh in here as well.

Shit is dope.

I wouldn't exactly call these Wu-Tang beats but more accurately, I would say the beats are Younge's version of Wu-Tang's beats. I'm not familiar with any of his previous work (something I am looking to change) but it sounds like Younge was deliberately trying to give Ghost the type of beats he saw as "Ghost" beats. I think they fit PERFECT with Ghost's style and they are reminiscent of RZA's early inspirations. As far as GFK's skills, they never dissapoint. The only variation here from a usual Ghost album is the dedication to a theme/concept (except for Wizard maybe) and I thought he sounded ever so slightly hoarse. Anybody else feel that?

4.5 for me.

Also I mentioned in the Recent Spins thread that I thought these beats were the best since Supreme Clientele, even though I always enjoy his production selection. Any body else feel that?

This is my favorite album this year. I enjoyed it after one listen. I liked It even more after the second spin because the story becomes more clear. By the 3rd spin, I was hooked. They hit all of their intended marks. Younge's production definitely succeeds in sounding very 70's, Italian movie score, Rza inspired beats. Ghost does a great job holding the album together thematically, and it sounds like a comic book on record.

The Brown tape is good too, but it doesn't sound as natural and organic as Younge's version.

This album is dope IMO. Like Terry said, it took me a couple listens to grasp the overall concept and really adjust to Ghost's rhymes like Parker said. I feel Ghost could have went a little harder on the lyrical side of things and felt the rhymes weren't delivered from him and his guest as well as I wanted it to be. I feel most of them sound pretty damn weary at times but maybe that's just their age showing or I'm just tripping. I have no complaints towards the beats at all. Young did a great job of crafting the ambiance for each song. Each song flows smoothly and doesn't feel disjointed. All in all, this albums gets a solid 4 stars from me. I hope people start releasing more albums like this...

man ya'll are nuts besides Wanduras. I wills ay the third listen is when this album took off for me. also, this album MUST be lsitened to through headphones to fully grasp the concept and feel before switching over to car speakers.

This album is a murder weapon. Younge comes correct as I believed he would but Wu once again steals the show. Ghost crafts a mob tale that turns into a violent reveng-driven slasher flick. The whole concept and story is great and its extrmeely impressive that each song id directly related to the one before it. Killa Sin's verse on "Revenge is so Sweet" is fantastic, as he finds w ay to fit his real life experiences into the concept of the album seamlessly. This is an excellent album and Ghost's best since Fishscale, and probably better than it (as Fishscale has soem throwaways on there...dont get me started with anyone who defends Back Like That and Be Easy).

this album has a true natural feel to it...I wouldnt say its a direct "Wu" feel but it is Wu-inspired and to see the Gambino personas back for an entire album was refreshing.

Also, if anyone has the Brown Tape would they mind sending it to me?

Be Easy wasn't that bad to me. Fuck Back Like That though. I still haven't got my copy. I better get that Apollo brown tape with it. You guys are making this sound like album of the year material i'm excited.

Wu-Block just keeps sounding better and better as well.

Yeah, i haven't gotten my pre-order from Soul Temple either. From what "Ghost" is saying on his FB page, they had over 3,000 pre-orders to fill so orders are still shipping out. I ordered the deluxe edition of the album and i'm supposed to get the Brown tape as well, but since there are no guarantees, i copped the album again at my local spot because they had the Brown tape in stock with purchase of the album. So if anyone is interested, i may have an extra copy of the deluxe cd, comic book and Brown tape.

They are supposed to be sending a link to DL the Brown Tape to all the customers that purchased a package that included the cassette. They also said we should receive an e-mail within 24 hours with an order/shipping update.

LOL, i just got an e-mail last night saying my order had shipped. Actually it says my package has left their warehouse and has been sent to Asendia to be mailed. At this point, i don't really care any more.

I really want the Brown tape on CD, but i doubt i will ever order from them again. There are people that still haven't received their Man With The Iron Fists pre-order packages from last year.
