| To me his lyrical prowess, his entire body of work, overall hit records and impact and influence warrants a top 50 slot for Reggie
Whut Thee Album Dare Iz A Darkside Muddy Waters
all of those are critically acclaimed
and add on his work with Method Man which he's about to add to this upcoming week with Blackout 2 and his past work with EPMD and Keith Murray and he slides into top 50 status quite easily IMO

| Top 100 for me. I can see why he would deserve top 50 though. I personally love "Muddy Waters" & "Whut Thee Album", and those are mostly what I bump from Redman. However, he is still going strong nowadays. |

| He's a top 50 rapper for me personally but objectively I cannot see him in the top 50 so I voted top 100. To me he is not a consistant lyricists I think his strong delivery, nice rhyme pattern, and dope rap voice pulls shade over people eyes and make them think he is a str8 up lyricists. I know he can be a lyricists at times but honestly mostly he's inconsistant and just is a good rhyme spitter. |

| I think he's obviously top 50 material. Strong discography, consistent on the mic on his own albums and guest appearances, decent producer, at least two classics under his belt...been in the game 15+ years, was a HUGE and evident influence on one of the most popular mcs of all time (Eminem)...Funk Doctor gets in. Top 20 IMO. |

I hate to keep bringing this up but I can't help it but Jeff you say all this about Redman than how in the hell did Short not make top 100 at all and Snoop, Ice T, Lyte, and Mobb Deep are top 100? I mean the logic some use for voting people in the top whatever usually can be applied to the artist that did not make it. Too Short influenced over half the west coast and some southern artist but that does not count? |

| For one, this is ALL "personal" right? I mean IN MY OPINION, right?
Did Too Short REALLY influence ALL of the west coast? Or did Ant Banks? Was it Short's flow and lyrics? Or Ant's beats? That's my question.
And the whole influence of Eminem was just icing on the cake as Redman can get in on his own two. You can't discount Red's flow and lyrical ability. Dude will bring it to you any style any track any concept. What about Short?
Truth be told, my top 10 rappers could spit to any beat with any style with any other rapper. That's dopeness. KRS has it, G Rap has it, Red has it. Short doesn't.
My criteria may differ but that's my only point Kev. I didn't vote for Snoop. Ice T, MC Lyte, and Mobb Deep all have lyrical ability that make Short look like Nic Cannon, dog, don't get it twisted. |

| Redman is top 50, hes the epitome of being able to be a great rapper with good lyrics, but not taking himself too seriously.....not to mention he has one weak album out of like 7 | |

| Yeah not too mnention his originality and he never really "sold out" musically, he's always been Red. Nothing more, nothing less. |

| Ant Banks is part of the equation just as much as Eric Sermon is part of Redman's equation. Who was doing dirty raps and pimpin rhymes before Short? What is the west coast most talked about subject? If you answer those honestly you won't question Short's impact. Also that is how I know you are not a real Short listener the man talked about different things and told stories on his early albums. When Short wrote positive lyrics they were lyrical, but you wouldn't know that would you? |

| I voted top 100 - Red is one of my favorite emcees, but I have a lot of favorites and after his first 2 albums he has faded some for me. I still buy his CDs and there are plenty of banging tracks on them but it feels like he's been happy leaning on his same fan base for the last 10 years or so and hasn't pushed his game up to the levels it could be. |

| Redman is EASILY Top 50. He's a great lyricist, and all of his albums are at least 4 stars, with 2 of them (Whut Thee Album and Muddy Waters) being classics. The Funk Dr. Spot is in my personal Top 30. |

Redman's discography HAS been consistent. Some might point to Malpractice as his weak spot, but to me that's a 4 star album and I really can't see anyone rating it less than 3.5 stars. Red's awesome lyrics combined with Erick Sermon's beats are simply MAGICAL together. Redman IS a consistent lyricist as well, often time he spits lyrics that make you hit the rewind/playback button. He's been one of the best MC's over the last two decades IMO, hence I voted him in the Top 50. |

i can't get into redman as much as i want to (cause i love his voice/flow/etc.) cause i feel he is one dimensional as far as topics go. i would appreciate it, if i was wrong. |

| I can't think off the top of many songs where Redman is getting "deep" but lyrically he's still nasty...
he's obviously not the "deepest" emcee to ever do it but he is one of the most lyrical
the way he puts together words is something to behold IMO...top 30 of all-time for sure IMO

| yea that's why i'm not into redman.
like powell said, he's worldplay and his whole emceeing is straight nasty.
but at some point i need him to say something that's going to touch me or make me think.
that's why i voted him top 100, strictly off his emceeing abilities. |
