| I don't understand why Common thinks that Obama is making this a thing of the past, he hasn't even been in office a year, and I don't think one of his priorities is to get rid of bling and rims......
anyways yea, I don't know if its my location but when I was younger everyone was big on having nice rims and some watches and chains. As for now, even if I had a car, I'm not really wanting to throw some 24's on a mustang or an accord.. its looks stupid when I see a 4 door sedan riding on some huge as tires just so they can fit 24's on em.

We agree here. When I lived in Alabama, one of my neighbors had an Astro van with huge rims. I thought it was the gayest shit ever. Maybe I'm some sort of old school homophobe or something, but I always thought jewelry was for women and that the males who obsessed over it were gay. I've softened this stance over the years when it comes to my view of others, but I still don't go near it (I don't even wear my wedding ring). The most you might see me rock is a rubber band. Before I cut the dreadlocks (bad idea...I miss 'em lol), I used to wrap an elastic band around my wrist to pull them back whenever I needed to. As far as rims go, I can understand that somewhat. Hobbyists and other auto lovers usually use them to enhance the look of their cars (I like black rims quite a bit -- I'm a hobbyist), but these cats with their cars 20 feet (exaggeration?) off the ground just so they can fit rims on their car look like fools to me. They'd be better served by throwing a few stacks in the fireplace to keep their homes heated. That's what they're doing with their money anyway. Oh, and Common has officially lost his mind...

| I just spent 2 months in Lauderdale, and rims and bling are alive and well down there.
Especially the small cars with big ass tires.

| I don't mind men in jewelery as long as it isn't too much. I don't see anything wrong with a understated necklace, watch a ring, and/or a bracelet, but when they have on 5 chains, a bunch of rings, all so incrusted with diamonds that it doesn't make sense, then that's stupid. I don't see anything wrong with hooking up a car, but DMAC's car was wack. I have a cousin who bought a watch that was incrusted with diamonds. He asked my opinion on it, and I said "This is a watch, right? How come I can't tell time with it? Isn't that the point of having a watch?" He said "I know, huh, but don't it look clean tho?" I shook my head. That fool makes me tired sometimes I guess what I'm saying is as long as the "bling" isn't over the top, then I'm cool with it. There's a method to the madness. Most of these folks are just mad with it. |

True, people don't have any money, but regardless of the economic situation, folks still get that money by selling drugs. So would rims and bling still be around, maybe a part of the drug culture instead of overall culture? |

Rims...when done right are on point...In certain cases-they make the car...i would call myself a supporter of tasteful rims..

... I agree...I just hate when it just becomes about the rims for a social status or symbol instead of a hobby or pride in your car. I mean we have all seen average to way below average shape cars/trucks with rims on them. I mean the paint job and window is cracked but they riding spinna's?? GTFOH! |

..I'd like to think that the majority of rim owners do it for the pride in their car.....?????? LMAO @ hubcap spinners on a minivan. I've seen that so many times. Tasteless = rims on a Gremlin or something horrible like that. If I had the money, I'd put some rims on my Subaru, but they'll be alluminum alloy rims, not chrome spinners. They would fit the original wheel size as well. Spinners on a car that doesn't command it through its appearence = BAD. I want something like this on my car, but in aluminum alloy: http://www.thewheelconnection.com/showpicture.php?brand=Konig&name=Helium&finish=Silver |
