Videos like this are what made me become a vegetarian for 2 or 3 years. Even now, I don't eat that much meat, but the meat I purchase is only bought from certain places.
That said, there's no rational explanation for this kind of cruelty. I still consider doing away with meat entirely from time to time.

"We need to stop eating meat/ humans are animals too"--Megalon
I'm close to being 33 I gotta think about my health. So much health problems is linked to meat and diary products. That pig segment almost made me throw up. We could only wish that the pigs we eat come from out doors pig pens were they roll AROUND IN MUD. These conditions are far worse the unnatural.
Human beings have always eaten meat but we consume far more meat than we did before industrialization. And to think all of the meat that just goes to waste. Animals suffering for nothing. I'm no bleeding heart vegetarian but there's a differnce between hunting with a spear and packing cows in a slaughter house living a miserable existence before they die. In some parts of the world people don't even touch meat. You don't haveta use vegetarian tactics to persuade them. Even in "primitive" times people did most of their meat-eating in the winter time due to the fact you can't grow crops this time of the year and you can naturally "refrigerate" leftovers and uncooked meat. But we don't haveta consume all this meat, we have a ton of choices but our carnivore appetite is too strong now.

So i once went to a BBQ where the dead cow was hanging from the tree by its back legs. they let it hang for a few days in advance and when we got there they took it down are started cutting it up. so they would cut the meat and 1 minute later it was cookin on the BBQ. while this was fucked up to see it was the best damn taste steak i ever had. i dont eat a single meal without meat. its the beat shit out there and its good for you

You can find meat raised humanely and not poisoned with antibiotics and cheap grains. It costs a bit more, but even the flavor is better.

That's pretty much what I buy.
Problem is, when your funds are low or you don't have the extra cheese to buy that type of meat, you typically reach for the cheap shit. And it really is shit...

Even if workers took a piss and shit in the meat vats and grounded it up people would still defend eating this garbage. Thats America for ya' nothing is sacred. Trotter..that video about the meat was pretty disgusting man, and most definitely the truth but there is stuff going on with vegetables and fruit as well.....genetically altered veggies and fruits and pesticides being sprayed on both of them so the word "organic" really doesn't have much meaning...what heads need to understand is that as long as MONEY is involved then there is NO safety net...plain and simple....meat will not be completely safe and neither will vegetables (unless you grow them yourself) fruits (unless you grow them yourself)...bread...etc..etc
And since we need food to be alive well then this is a NO win situation we've been put in..
KRS-One actually addressed the Beef/Meat aspect back in 1990!

I find this statement repugnant. We know the process of how beer is made. If someone took a video camera to the Busweiser plant they may not find anything incriminating. I don't smoke weed. But most people know and can witness the process of it being grown. The theory of one barking at all misdoings instead of just barking at one is repugnant. We must attack targets one at a time.
The thing with MEAT is the deception of the process. Most people think these animals are living happily on a farm getting fresh air intil they meet their doom. Most people think they die a quick and painless death. Most people think the animals look normal before they die. Also we eat waay too much meat anyways. The American diet is gluttony. And I agree that we can't trust this "ORGANIC" shit. If these meats are raised and processed the healthy way why isn't this the standard quo? Why must we pay more for meat that is simply raised and process the way it used to be a long time ago?

the statement is not repugnant but actually very intelligent...if you understood the point though....which is basically as long as MONEY is involved in ANYTHING...there is going to be corruption..short cuts..etc..etc
this goes for the corporate world...the sports world.....the food world.....the video game world...the hip-hop world, it doesn't matter man
MONEY is why you saw that video of those animals being treated the way they are treated before being slaughtered for their meat.....that is taking the shortcut way....unless you plan on stopping eating completely or opening up Trotter's animal and vegetable/fruit farm..then you as well as the rest of us are in a lose/lose situation.....plain and simple man...high blood pressure....cancer....high cholestrol....heart attacks will all continue in earnest and that's great news for the healthcare industry, to make more MONEY..that's great news for the drug manufacturers to make more MONEY...this whole discussion should be pretty clear now!

Mass produced foods are cheaper for the manufacturer, that's why they're cheaper for the consumer. Corn based feeds are dirt cheap and antibiotics cut down on waste due to loss.
The time required to produce meat humanely is reflected in the cost. A lack of medication and preservative in the product means greater loss and a compromise in over all yield. Animals not dosed demand more individual attention. A sick pig on a farm without preventative mess could quickly destroy the entire operation.

Y'all raise some good points regarding industry processed meat. As for myself if it's an artiodactyl (even-toed ungulate) it's in danger if it's around me, 'cause if it has horns/antlers, hooves and eats grass it's dinner. I look at docs on the Serengeti and such and I don't see nature, I see burgers, steaks, ribs, etc. What I don't eat is fish; I just don't like it. And as far as shellfish goes all I eat are shrimp (the smaller the better) and the occasional king crabmeat salad and then ONLY when my Grandmama makes it. I feel you on the cruelty issue (but then again I was and still am able to watch the slaughterhouse segment of Faces Of Death while eating a steak with no problem whatsoever).

I will never stop eating meat altogether. That being said, I do feel it is very important to focus on where we are getting our meat from because the conditions that those animals live in are just deplorable. I'm willing to pay higher prices if it means better quality.
