| I also take it people are counting Slaughterhouse as an east coast album even though it's a group comprised of a dude from the west, from the midwest, and two dudes from the east. That doesn't make it an east coast album. |

| Would you consider Nappy Roots a southern group even before Prophet left even tho he's from The Town? | |

| Nappy Roots is a str8 up southern grp and Slaughterhouse is a east coast group imo. Not that it matters or anything but just for this poll thats the way i'm going. |

| The East had a good year this year IN MY OPINION so they will win for 2009 and watch out for 2010 because I know of quite a few joints including one from my fam that will be on the way very soon to inject some life into the hip-hop game
Now if we were talking about all-time then NYC/EAST coast wins without a doubt and this part of the equation is a FACT....a FACT for that part of the statement (sorry fellas..lmao!)

You know what Powell you are correct the NYC/East coast is the best period and these polls prove it all the time. You have some who always give you shit about prove the east is the best but yet they vote all east coast albums and thing most of the time. And if you look at most top 10's on this very forum that answers the questions to your statement because they have majortiy east coast albums. So bow down to the true GOAT coast the east.

LOL..I hear ya Kev...I've only said this man because it has been proven time and time again, not just on this forum but throughout hip-hop in general....I don't want other regions to take this as disrespect because dope hip-hop music had come from all areas but when it comes to the MOST quality hip-hop music EVER released then NYC leads the pack...I know they had a head start because they created the entire game but this quality on a major scale didn't start to slow down until around 1998 or 1999...before that the majority of QUALITY hip-hop music was coming from the east coast....not all of it but more than half of the percentages....but dudes on here get mad because I'm braggin hey fuck that I'm happy I'm from NY and we are leading the pack in a music I consider my favorite of all-time so why not boast about it...what's the big fuckin deal?? I still respect other regions and still own a ton of hip-hop music from outside of NY/East coast and that's because of my overall love of this artform...hip-hop culture is the SHIT! gotta love it completely baby bubba!

| Slaughterhouse is a group that can not be classified. They are not an east coast group because half the group is not from the east coast. If we are going to start labeling groups as east coast based on their sound, we will have a lot of reorganization to do. | |

| They are east coast for me because they are too dope to not be counted somewhere on this thread that asked us to divide the acts. They are a east coast themed grp can you agree on that? |

| Or they could be a non coastal group that defies these geographical divisions...I think Coka Nostra, Slaughterhouse, and a few others would fit that mold. |

I don't agree because if you were to play that album for any hip hop fan and not tell them where any of them are from and ask that person what coast do you think they are from which do you honestly think they would pick? And just for the record I am not trying to make everything about this coast that coast because that is stupid. I'm just discussing the question that was asked. |

But the question that was asked was since Slaughterhouse has members from different coast where do they fall and to me I counted them as east coast and that is waht I was explaining how I came to that conclusion. |

| Indeed Slang, you can't go based on misconceptions... add Souls of Mischief as a group who could be classified in another coast by the stereotypical...
Out of the 4 cats in Slaughterhouse I would only stereotypically classify Joell Ortiz as east coast and that would just be based on him being puerto rican so I would assume he was from NYC.
Stylistically and the production I don't think they adhere to any "coast" or style...
Same with Coka Nostra... Muggs doesn't make Cypress Hill east coast or Planet Asia for that matter...
I think when you listen to something and can say "I think this is from this coast" is when you start having a problem with a lack of originality and variety. |
