| Gotta go with Alchemist here. Great mix of mc's with dope production. Some of my favorite tracks of the year are on here. |

| Marco Polo features one rapper named Torae. Not a producer album. |

| My real pick would be Dela "Changes of Atmosphere", but I bet most of you consider that to be a 2008 release even though it officially dropped in 2009 here in the U.S.. I include it as 2009 either way. Since he is absent, I'm going with J Dilla . After a few spins, I even went out and bought the album again on wax. Dig that one a bunch. BK One is a close 2nd (minus Dela). |

Didn't you include Dela in your 2008 top list? That would preclude you from double dipping like this. |

So is this a list of albums made by people who strictly produce but can have rappers on them, or is this strictly instrumental albums? If it's the latter Chemical Warfare is disqualified. _________________ a.k.a AFutureWithoutAPast, Kendrick Davis

I believe it's the former, because the latter would also disqualify Jay Stay Paid. |

| The difference between the Alc and albums like Double Barrell are that Alc isn't on every track. He raps occasainally. If the album was predominantly him rapping, then I wouldn't have counted it. Not to mention, Alc completely changed his production style on the new album and used the mpc in a really innovative way. |
