| What would be your parameters for getting in? One or all of the follwoing would have to be involved in a major way imo Impact/Influence Discography Sales Longevity Lyrical/Rap skills
What would be the reason to keep someone out (you can't get into the Baseball Hall of Fame using steroids)? Short career or one hit wonder No classic albums
Who would be your top candidates for getting in and why? That list is to long to list but the usual suspects like: RunDMC (impact/sales) Pac (influence/impact and lyrics) KRS (lyrics/rap skills and longevity) Rakim (influence/lyrics) Nas (lyrics/rap skills and influence) Jay-Z (sales, impact, and rap skills) Face (influence, discography, lyrics) Cube (lyrics/rap skills and influence) NWA (impact, influence, sales) Snoop (influence, sales, longevity) Eminem (impact, lyrics, and sales)
What figures do you feel would ultimately ended being debated? The ones who only have rap /lyrical skill to stand on. Its heard to debate rhyme skills since its so opinionated. |

If I was going to start a hip-hop hall of fame these heads up above would be my start to any hall of fame
Why? because they've impacted or changed the course of hip-hop in some way, shape or form...they are hip-hop IN MY OPINION...meaning the foundation of what is hip-hop IN MY OPINION....of course there are others that should be in any hip-hop hall of fame, but again these heads would be in any hip-hop hall of fame for me FIRST...with many more to follow!

| I don't think the Ultramagnetics belong in the hall of fame. They only have one critically acclaimed album. |

They belong there because of that one album and also Ced Gee's production work on it and Criminal Minded that along with Kool Keith whose bizarre antics were extremely different to anything ever seen or talked about IN MY OPINION..they belong in my own personal hip-hop hall of fame easily... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultramagnetic_MCs

Yeah Kev it hit pretty hard man...especially in it's innovative samples...and as I already said Ced's work on Criminal Minded (one of the finest moments in hip-hop history IMO) makes him and this group first ballot for me...when you throw in Kool Keith who has impacted hip-hop as well..then to me it's a no brainer man

And Kev what if that one hit wonder made a single classic track but that was it?

Yeah that would be good when discussing the best singles in hip hop or a hip hop single hall of fame but overall hell naw. Now if that one single changed the scope of music like say a Little Richard, Chuck Berry, James Brown or someone like that then maybe but if it was just a hit nope. |

| I agree with Powell. Ultramagnetic MC's need to be in the hall of fame, even if Critical Beatdown is their only album that is regarded as classic. The rest of their career was solid, and they introduced the world to Kool Keith. And Critical Beatdown is just so impressive, they get in on that album alone. | |

Thats Bullshit. Well that means a lot of other rappers should get in for one bomb album. Ganksta NIP changed the face of horrorcore with his debut album that even made billboard with some very controversal lyrics. No one was doing horrorcore on that level until he came out. So is he hall of fame? Sugarhill Gang? T La Rock? DJ Magic Mike? 2 Live Crew? Blu & Exile? |

Sugarhill Gang? T La Rock? DJ Magic Mike? 2 Live Crew? Blu & Exile? You know what Kev, thanks for reminding me about the Sugarhill Gang because that is another first ballot hall of fame group man...as for Ultra I already explained to you why I think they should be in...and it's not only because of Critical Beatdown..it's because of that..it's because of Ced's production work..and it's because of Kool Keith who influenced many emcees...IN MY OPINION they have the credentials easily man.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultramagnetic_MCsRead that again man!...they have the goods to get in man...now IN MY OPINION..T La Rock...Blu And Exile...DJ Magic Mike do not have enough to get in...I already included The 2 Live Crew..they would get in on my ballot...they basically created Bass Music and Luke's influence is pretty large..so they should be in easily too IN MY OPINION!

I completely co-sign! Ultra deserves to get in and Kool Keith was hella influential. The Fugees deserve to get in as well. Despite what the haters in this forum think, they have made a tremendous impact on the rap game, The Score is classic as well as solos by Lauyrn and Wyclef, and people even to this day are feenin for a reunion. So I say The Fugees should be inducted. |

| Well if I had to vote I would be the one neither for them because they are average at best as a whole imo. Now I do respect Kool Keiths legacy and I know he's a trailblazer on the undaground circuit and one of the most creative album making cats in hip hop. He would make it on longevity and influence maybe.
Sugarhill Gang is a very debatable one imo but since they had such a major major impact with that one damn song it may be to hard to ignore. |

| Here is my problem with theory's about Ultramagnetic MC's. I really have no opinion one way or another since i've only heard Critical Beatdown, but putting them in the hall of fame cause of what Kool Keith and Ced Gee have done separate from the group doesn't seem fair IMO. For instance, it would be similar to saying The Gravediggaz should be in the hall of fame because of everything RZA and Prince Paul have done. You may be able to justify them individually, but putting in the whole group may be pushing it. Like i said, i have no opinion one way or another on the group, but based on the credentials being put out there, that would be my opinion. | |

Why wouldn't NIP been in the Hall of Fame. Horrocore is one of the many sub-genres of Hip-Hop.
The Horrorcore section should include Esham, Necro, Insane Poetry, Flatlinerz and ICP as well. Geto Boys would deserve some recognition too although they did more than just Horrorcore.

Slang get outta here with that. I know you probably read that somewhere but don't believe the hype. Nobody on the grand scale of things talks about that album in the same breath as those you mentioned. You need to reevaluate that thought process. |

He's actually not that far off in this accessment IMO...while I don't think it's on par with those albums it's not to far below those measuring sticks IMO Kev, I already know you are not the biggest Ultra fan in the world....I guess the way you feel about them is how I feel about Willie "Damn" Dee and those Geto Boys (minus 'Face)...for me The Geto Boys are not first ballot hall of famers and it's mainly because I can't stand them as a group and we already know the reasons why..lol for me it's Ultra>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the Geto Boys all damn day..lol so I feel you with being against Ultra man..it's all good!

| Well I don't dislike or like Ultra, to me they are a average grp that I really never put any thought into. But I just can't see hall of fame for them as a grp, I can see hall of fame for that album if we were talking top classicalbums of all time but for he grp hell no. They did nothing even a tad near the level of Critical Beatdown and Kool Keith is the break out star of the collective. So Kool Keith should be the one being debated imo not the grp.
Plus Willie D murdas every mc in Ultra Mag to me but you already know that..lol. |

| The Geto Boys spot is engraved in stone! If they didn't get in that would be a travesty of EPIC proportions.
"But I just can't see hall of fame for them as a grp, I can see hall of fame for that album if we were talking top classicalbums of all time but for he grp hell no."
Now we're getting into semantics. The album deserves to be in there.
Just think about your average museum and the myriad of exhibits that many haven't heard of but someone saw what they did as noteworthy.
