Bought this one and all i heard was words words, words, and a few more words. Why do all these backpacking white dudes go all bananas over this guy? Connecting words shouldn't be enough. I've been wondering.

I thought this was a place for people of all walks of life. I asked a simple question. All I heard was a few more words, words, words and no explanation. What gives playa?

You must of never bumped UGK man...
Anyways, Doom is dope to me... a lot of people just plain don't like him, others think he has fallen off as of late... I dig him for a nice change of pace, but if you really want to see whether you like him or not you should listen to Viktor Vaughn. If you don't like that you just don't like him...

A lot of people can't get with his abstract style, his mushmouth voice, and the wacky words he uses.

Allright, this game ain't fair.
All i'm saying is this: If you really feel this guy, you would realize, that he got flows, wordplay, energy and vocabulary. It's like listening to Biggie in his prime....only in a new-improved-educated version. Go right ahead and burn me up the stake.
A four-minute joint where he switches up the beat three times (metal fingers), and switches up the flow three times (Metal face).
And still comes up with mad lyrics like "a real wierdo with a bum wierd flow and the way his hair grow is ugly as a scarecrow."
Why won't real heads give him any props?
Maybe he uses words your language won't permit. Maybe he sounds too white??

DOOM can be very good, his lyrics are unique and entertaining, his flow is sort of "I don't give a fuck but I'm still sick".
I have to say his latest album isn't that good though. It has it's moment, but it sounds rushed, like a mishmash of beats and verses just thrown together. It doesn't sound like one cohesive project. Madvillainy, Operation:Doomsday, Vaudeville Villain, those are his best albums.

i love DOOM, one of my favorite Mc's, MM...Food is a classic IMO and obviously Operation Doomsday and Vaudeville Villain and Madvillainy are highly regarded
i really enjoyed his newest album too
Doom does more than just connect words man, the rhymes actually make sense a lot of the times, not that hes a storyteller or anything like that, but most of his lines"say something" and most of em are also funny but at first you dont realize it til you go back and listen to how funny it actually was but since he uses the mush-mouthed flow you miss it at first
also, his voice is one of the most addictive in hip-hop

I have MM...Food, and I noticed how he puts the words together. I'm one of those people who enjoy rap music for this fact alone. I love words, that plays a BIG part in why I listen to the rappers I choose to listen to. Anybody can tell a story or rap about something, but it takes something AMAZING to do it like some rappers can.
On JakeOne's "White Van Music" Doom says "JakeOne makes beats well like I like my steaks done" That was a dope line right there because I can put it together. It takes me like one second after listening to how he says every line and how they fit into his rhyme. I will get around to getting more MF Doom in my music collection one of these days, but funds are short. I may have to dl that new album just so I can see how it is. I keep hearing that it's not that good.
Grind, MF Doom is definitely NOT for everybody, and I can understand why. Plus, it doesn't help when the fool raps in a monotone voice. That alone has the potential to bore somebody to tears. The beats are like nothing I've heard before, so that can really make people run like roaches when the light comes on since the beat of a song can be the first thing some listeners use to determine whether they like a song or not.

co-sign most of what you say except i personally love Doom's voice thats one of the reasons i like listening to him so much and I really liked the new album, its not as good as some of his others but its a good album in itself and DOOM still has it....if you havent heard Operation Doomsday, Vaudeville Villain, or Madvillainy id check those out first though
