| Little Brother vs. Cunninlynguists Little Brother by a little bit. Mostly because my favorite CL record (Will Rap For Food) doesn't quite rank up with LB's 2 best IMO.
Wale vs. Fashawn Eh...both don't do anything for me, but I have yet to give them more then a single chance.
Strange Fruit Project vs. Solilaquists Of Sound SFP....The Healing is just better than anything SOS drops IMO, but SOS is close IMO.
Panacea vs. Blue Scholars Blue Scholars easy. They just make better records.
Lupe Fiasco vs. Phonte Phonte easily.
B.O.B. vs. J. Cole Who? Are these real rappers?
One Be Lo vs. Brother Ali Close...not really...Brother Ali gets it.
Akrobatik vs. Mr. Lif The Perceptionists record is definitely my favorite from both, and it's basically a draw for me, but since Lif came through with a dope '09 release, he gets it. Plus, Lif has 1 classic solo and one classic EP in addition to the Perceptionists record IMO. Ak only has one near classic IMO (Absolute Value). So Lif it is.
Slum Village (post Dilla) vs. Common Market Hmmm, haven't heard enough newer Slum Village.
Shad vs. Elzhi Shad easily.
Termanology vs. Reks Neither one thrilled me. The Reks just sort of bored me and the Termanology was borderline wack aside from the beats IMO.

I'm still trying to figure out what everyone thought was so great about "The Preface". I spun it no less than 3 months ago and a few other times when it was all hyped up when I first bought it. Shad's record murders absolutely everything about it - flow, beats, hooks, writing, concepts, etc...

| Little Brother vs. Cunninlynguists- Cunninlynguists. I like their albums, style, rapping.... basically everything more lol
Wale vs. Fashawn- Fashawn, though Wale had a fire verse on So Close, So Far
Strange Fruit Project vs. Solilaquists Of Sound- SFP
Panacea vs. Blue Scholars- Panacea simply makes better albums.
Lupe Fiasco vs. Phonte- Not too big on either, but I'd listen to a Phonte verse over a Lupe verse.
B.O.B. vs. J. Cole- B.O.B. He needs to drop an album.
One Be Lo vs. Brother Ali- One Be Lo, easy. Not as big a fan of Ali as I am of Lo
Akrobatik vs. Mr. Lif- Akrobatik. Lif has the classic album, but I like Akro better as a rapper.
Slum Village (post Dilla) vs. Common Market- Common Market, basically for Sabzi's production.
Shad vs. Elzhi- Elzhi. The Preface is a personal classic, and he probably has my favorite rapping style right now.
Termanology vs. Reks- When Term is on his game, he's better IMO. Reks is more well rounded, and had a better recent album, though.

LOL...now I understand Norf's post. lol...my bad, I didn't even know you wrote that. I just thought it was fitting. IMO Panacea and Blue Scholars are nearly equal in talent, but I found the Panacea albums to be rather ordinary sounding compared to the Blue Scholars records. Both sound fairly ordinary I guess. lol

| I guess I will have to be the definitive tie breaking vote here:
Little Brother vs. CunninlynguistsBOLD - CL has the better producer, though emcees in both groups suuuucckkk.
Wale vs. Fashawn TIE - Both have potential, neither has reached it.
Strange Fruit ProjectBOLD vs. Solilaquists Of Sound - home state love, but S1 is a dope producer
Panacea vs. Blue ScholarsBOLD: by default - panacea sounds like a sexual term and I keep my shit clean, yasmellme?
Lupe FiascoBOLD vs. Phonte: THEFUCKWASSHAUNSMOKING? A wack group member vs. a solo artist? Here's a versus: Pain In Da Ass vs. Brother J
B.O.B.BOLD vs. J. Cole: Easily he has doper songs and an album coming out - J. Cole just has the camel hype machine.
One Be LoBOLD vs. Brother Ali: One Be has a criminal record, nuff said.
Akrobatik vs. Mr. Lif: Neither? Both these fools have their moments. Bawston.
Slum Village (post Dilla) vs. Common Market: Neither...does either group really matter? I mean CM has the better producer now...
ShadBOLD vs. Elzhi: This isn't even a contest. Anyone choosing Elzhi has a gay midget inside their ear canal butt fucking their ear drums. Only way to explain them making the wrong choice.
Termanology vs. Reks: Term - just like his swag a little more. |

Dunno about that SRP. Reks is a lyrical beast compared to Term. I like Term, but he is just too much into trying to emulate Big Pun. He has his own style somewhat, but Reks would rap circles around him. If you take Term's Politics As Usual album, and put Reks on the beats, it would have been more cohesive in terms of lyrical ability. Hell, Reks would actually need one producer to do the job (Statik).

Your definition of hip-hop must differ from the actual definition - since Shad dropped the best hip-hop album from 08 - it may have been the best album overall. Clean your ears. The Old Prince dropped in 07. Clear your mind. I forget about that - but it dropped at the end of 2007 and dominated 2008. That is the year it won a grammy in 2008 so I always consider it a 2008 album. Well in that case The Old Prince is better, I agree with you. I consider it an 07 album though, and Elzhi gets the nod for 08.
