| K. Rob! Hope you and your fam enjoyed the vacation - good to see y'all made it back safe and sound.
My vote still goes to The Realness, though the other two are dope, but not classic IMO. |

| I re-iterate...with WHO KILLED IT on the album? How is ANYBODY voting for it over a certified skip-free classic like The Realness. HHID is a personal classic to me, but it also contains one of, if not THEE, worst rap songs I've ever had the bad fortune of hearing. |

I don't think any of the above albums are 5 stars, but I enjoyed HHID the most out of the 3 |

| "Who Killed It?" is obviously not the best song on the album but it adds to the theme almost perfectly.
The Realness is not classic because the dude does not know much about song construction which imo makes complete albums. He raps on his albums like their mixtapes for the most with these long ass bars and plain ass hooks. I do appreciate the rawness of the album and I understand that I can't expect everyone to look at making songs the same way. But the samething that makes me like the album so much is also the thing that keeps it from classic. |

LOL nah, no need. I like the Realness but it has never been an album that has stood out from the pack like Illmatic or Doe or Die. It's equivalent to a movie you saw in the theaters that you think is good but isn't something that you've gotta purchase on DVD. |

| I call HHID a PERSONAL classic because it has a really fucking wack track, and therefore doesn't deserve the distinction of being called a 5 star classic. |

| well for example,
Run DMC's first 3 albums are all undeniable hip hop classics to me and sit at 5 stars, but if i made a top 100 only Raising Hell and maybe the Self Titled would make my list but other personal classic albums which i rank slightly lower than 5 stars but play more would. Such as an album like The W or Anghellic which in reality are 4.5 or 4.75 star albums to me but i hold them in a personal higher regard than the Run albums

In the grand scheme of things, Kev acknowledges it's not a 5 star classic, but it's a personal classic to him. How can it be out of place on his personal list? I've got plenty of albums in my top 100 that are generally viewed as less than 5 stars too.

| But personal classics are what it comes down to. It doesn't matter which albums are generally viewed as classics. There are a bunch of albums in hip hop and music in general that were generally viewed as classics that in retrospect aren't very good. | |

your pionts, while valid, are not at all what I'm talkin about. There's general rankings and personal rankings. If an album is in my top 100, then it's 5 stars to me personally. Obviously. Why would I put a fucking album ranked lower than other albums (PERSONALLY) above them? That means my rankings are wrong. This is simple logic. |

I was just saying that whether or not an album is generally considered a classic is of no importance to me when I vote for albums in these threads.

| Yes it is. You refuse to acknowledge it though.
People are saying - there are some objective 5 star albums I rank lower than objective 4.5 star albums.
Implicit in that statement is the fact that subjectively, their personal rankings are different than those objective rankings. They are saying the same thing you are - you just want to say it again for some reason. |
