| Nope. One of the best no doubt but I don't agree. IMO most of the time someone with limited listening or interest in southern rap would think this. |

Typical Kev response. lol...though he's got me pegged for sure. This album is right up there in the top 5 for me. I would give Goodie Mob "Soul Food" & a couple Outkast albums the edge first though...

| Face has an album or two that i like more. Kast has two albums i like more. I may also like Soul Food more too. Truth be told, a lot of people don't think this is UGK's best album. I certainly can't fault anyone for thinking this is the best, but it's not my fav. | |

| Falls somewhere in the top 10 Southern albums for me. I can't put it ahead of "Atliens", "Soul Food", "The Ressurection", "Somethin Serious", or even "Southernplayalistic". It's right there with "Mr. Scarface is Back" to me. | |

| Nappy Roots, Outkast, Cunninlynguists, and Scarface all have better albums. But Ridin Dirty is definitely up there. Those long ass skits attached to the songs don't help. And, the Fuck My Car song plain sucks. | |

and Outkast is the GREATEST southern hip-hop group
followed by Goodie Mob and then Little Brother IN MY OPINION

| Ridin Dirty is cornerstone of Southern Hip-Hop and in my top 5.
Personally I don't see southernplayalistic, somethin serious, or dare I say even Resurrection beating it. I just don't see. Coming close but naw.
And what Nappy Roots album is better than Ridin Dirty? I'm merely curious. To quote Vincent Vega, "That's a bold statement."

| Little Brother doesn't deserve to share shelf space with UGK, 8Ball & MJG, Outkast, Goodie Mob, Cunninglynguists, Geto Boys, 3 6 Mafia, Tru, Hot Boys, or 2 Live Crew.
That said, I completely disagree with Slang. |

I'm not a CL fan myself, but a lot of people dig them so I threw them in there. Hell, I'd put Odd Squad, Jim Crow, Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz, Poison Clan, and 10 other groups on that list as well, honestly. |

Dammit, KJ, it's really hard to argue with you when you're being so sensible. I obviously don't think Lil Jon's music sucks, but I can understand people not enjoying his simplistic party music. |

It's not hate. It's because they are overrated by so many east coast biased fanboys. They're a nice little group, but they don't have any consensus classics, and there are plenty of southern groups who have multiple classics under their belt. Also, those groups have done more to define and advance the region. LB hasn't done anything that hasn't been done before. UGK has multiple classics. Goodie has 2 classics. Kast has 3-4 classics. Geto Boys have multiple classics. Eightball & MJG have multiple classics. Three 6 Mafia has multiple classics to some(albeit on a smaller level). 2 Live Crew has multiple classics. They're all different. They're all original in ther own right. They're not some bastardized offspring of The Native Tongues Posse. LB is placed on a pedestal that is not justified or deserved. They are a quality group however.

LB is placed on a pedestal that is not justified or deserved. They are a quality group however. Nobody's calling LB the dopest group in hip-hop history, but they're dope nonetheless. I give 2 Live Crew props for being one of the first southern groups to ever blow up. But they're one dimensional and subpar lyrically, same goes for Three Six Mafia. As for classics, I consider the Minstrel Show and The Listening classics. The latter album may be 4.5 stars objectively but I can listen to every track on it easily. |

As for classics, I consider the Minstrel Show and The Listening classics. The latter album may be 4.5 stars objectively but I can listen to every track on it easily. I don't disagree with any of that KJ. I was just explaining my point of view as to why you think LB is hated on. I don't hate on them at all. In all honesty, they have a legit gripe to be included in the top 10 southern groups due to their strong discog. When people include LB in the top 3, it comes across as a lack of knowledge of southern hip hop. I also agree that The Minstrel Show is a classic, and The Listening is 4.5 stars. What i meant by lack of a consensus classic is that you will get a split over which album of theirs is a classic. Most will cite The Minstrel Show or The Listening as classics, and some people like Powell think Chittlin Circuit is a classic. There just seems to be a split amongst LB fans as to which album is a classic. They don't have an album like ATLiens, Aquemini, Soul Food, Grip It, Ridin Dirty for them to hang their hat on.

Fuck My Car is the shit but it does seem misplaced with the flow of the album. Ridin Dirty is easily one of the top 10 best southern albums period imo.
KJ you know I got luv for LB but I think a lot of their props and overating comes from their east coast sound or should I say east coast compatibility. Nothing about LB is traditional southern sounding, nothing. |

The same way you feel about LB is the same way I feel about Cormega. I think he's a good MC but he's not among NY's elite like many in here think he is. The Realness is dope but it's not a consensus classic like Illmatic, Paid In Full, Criminal Minded, Ready To Die, Reasonable Doubt, etc. |

I think a lot of southern hip-hop fans resent them for that. They're definitely not wack MC's, it's just that they're different from the rest of the pack. |
