| Nas is the most overrated rapper in the history of the game.
But the late 80s definitely produced some of the most overrated rap in the history of the game.
But just because all this is overrated doesn't make it bad.
To me overrated means fools running around acting like Nas is in some league of his own - when for truf he is separated from other rappers only for a matter of preference and nothing else. |

| ANY emcee who's ever been in the game could be considered OVERRATED
to me Scarface is overrated because IN MY OPINION he is not the nicest emcee to ever come out of the south (like some have said before) and his subject matter while poignant at times is not the "deepest" subject matter I have ever heard....it's no "deeper" than say Chuck D or Tupac or Cee Lo or Wise Intelligent or Jeru or many many others....
Snoop Dogg didn't even originate the word BEYOTCH (that goes to Too Short) nor most of that slang he is credited with starting...and he is not the nicest emcee out of Cali (like I have heard some say before)
D.O.C. (before the accident was nice on the mic but he wasn't top 10 nice IN MY OPINION...like some have said before)...and No One Does It Better is not a top 10 of all-time hip-hop album IN MY OPINION...(top 75 suits it much better IMO)
this shit about being overrated is all opinion...and good ol Jeffrey wanted to wake up the forum again and I guess this time he has succeeded...congrats Jeff! this thread was a good look man!

I think Snoop can be removed from the list, because real heads don't recognize Snoop as an elite emcee

Eat a dick! You're gonna say Snoop is an elite rapper and then call Nas overrated? Nas can rhyme circles around Snoop times fucking infinity. 90% of your favorite rappers spit wack ass lyrics worth shit anyway so it's no wonder why you don't like him. |

For the record, the rapper I'd say is by far the most over-rated is probably Snoop Dogg. |

I respect Snoop but you don't respect Nas. Illmatic is regarded by most of hip-hop nation as one of the GOAT's and his discography, storytelling ability, and lyricism are all top notch. You've made absolutely no points whatsoever other than the fact that you dislike Nas. Hate him all you want, but his skilled can't be denied by any hip-hop fan with common sense. |

I agree that Snoop is somewhat overrated, because the only real memorable album in his catalog is Doggystyle. But I disagree with you on Scarface and DOC. Face may not be the greatest lyricist of all time, but his storytelling ability is top notch, and if it wasn't for him the south likely wouldn't have blown up the way it has. Whether you choose to admit it or not. The Geto Boys are the RUN-DMC of the South. As for DOC he's UNDERRATED if anything. No One Can Do It Better is a great album, and I can see why it's on so many people's GOAT lists. It ranks in my Top 50 or so. Had he not lost his voice, his career would have skyrocketed.

You're a blind hater who has made zero valid points as to why Nas is the most overrated. As for Wayne. A lot of these kids coming up in the game are acting like he's the best rapper in the game, and he's not even close. Hence he's overrated. I'm not talking about real heads or crate diggers, I'm just talking about casual rap fans and young kids who really don't know their history. Those people consider Wayne a GOAT and it's sickening.

I don't think so. I actually sort of agree with Powell on D.O.C. Yeah, he wrote lyrics for Doggystyle, SOC, The Chronic, etc, but that doesn't make him a rapper. His one album (top 15 album, btw) is great, and I've seen people all over call him a GOAT. Sounds overrated to me
