So, I can't tell you how incredibly fantastic "Naturally" is. Probably played it 3-4x as much since we last spoke about it. The album is flawless. One of my roommates in particular is also completely hooked on it and can't stop playing it. Pretty much everyone I play it for loves it - no matter what genre they prefer most.
All that said, I forgot which album (and thread) to buy next from the group. Do you got all their albums? Could you rank them maybe? Thanks in advance!

Don't they have a new album out? I saw it at Target but took a pass. I need to get up on this group. They were recommended to me years ago and I never got around to it.
I do remember liking everything I've heard from them, though...

There is no ranking. They're all 5 star albums. No shit. I'll just give a brief description and a song I feel summarizes.
Dap Dippin With The Dap-Kings is the most funky of their albums. It's a live album. Which, if you know you're soul, can be the best situation or the worst. It's perfect here.
100 Days, 100 Nights is in the same vain as Naturally. A bit more polished, possibly. I like it about equally, I guess. Even though I said Naturally was my favorite.
I Learned The Hard Way is a bit more ecclectic. Sorrowful songwriting, for the most part, they take an excursion here & there back to funksville. There's even a simplistic Sam Cooke type ballad. It's still perfect, just different.
On a side note, they drop regular 45s, b-sides and all. Check out Daptone Records (like I said mofo). Also, Winehouse obviously can't fuck with Sharon, but her backing band on Back to Black was the Dap-Kings. It's worth a lookin into.
I think you'll find this interesting.

I had no idea the Dap-Kings were Amy Winehouse's band on that record. You're right though...no competition for Sharon even though it was a good record.
"Check out Daptone Records (like I said mofo)"
lol...I'll start with the CDs, but if I really end up getting into them a lot more, I probably will buy some LPs on vinyl. It would seem fitting for the type of music they do.
I just ordered "Dap Dippin" & "100 Days, 100 Nights".
Norf, you would totally dig this group. Nearly everyone on this forum should...

I meant to check out their actual website. But, yeah, you wanna pick up the vinyl. Very few musicians actually record in analog these days. So, where a record makes the most of a digital recording, an analog recording makes the most of the vinyl.

I can't believe how much vinyl they have in their store! I think I'll order up Naturally...I love that album.
