I disagree. I like it way more than Mo Mega...by leaps and bounds. I thought it wouldn't be that great, so I just downloaded it...spun it like 10 times, then bought it.

Why? I think his flow is way nicer here than it was on Mo Mega...more comfortable, more confident, less whiny, proper execution. I guess the production is debatable. I like it more because it fits with his style more than El-P does IMO. I was ready to write Lif off if this CD sucked...and he didn't disappoint.

I hated the beats, and his flow seemed to go off the nasally deep end for me. I'm sure I would like the subject matter, but it's just not listenable to me. I'll take the 6-7 dope tracks off Mo Mega over this.

I like Mr. Lif as a rapper but the only work from him that I can say I like is Emergency Rations.

I Phantom, Mo Mega, Enter The Colossus, and I Heard It Today just didn't impress me in their entirety. Each of those 4 albums had 1-3 5 star songs for me.

Yeah man. Since this upgrade, Tha Alkaholiks have moved up in my rankings quite a bit higher. Been bumping all their albums quite a bit. "X.O. Experience" is my new 2nd favorite (their debut will always rule in my book).

Doesn't sound like hating. I understand those who don't like him. But Steve claimed he was a huge Lif fan, so I was wondering where he was coming from with his hatred. Honestly, "I Heard It Today" has risen to a solid 4.25 stars for me. It's one of my most-played records of '09. I actually dig the production quite a bit, but the lyrics on the album are what I identify with most. I'm living a lot of those lyrics...

But if I had to make a Lif list, it would look like this...

I've been to about 3 FYE's before. The fact they even advertise the fact they sell used was a joke IMO. There was hardly any selection for that, and those were expensive as hell (as are the new CDs). I also hear they sell cassettes....never seen a cassette in an FYE before. Or anything analog for that matter.

EDIT: And one of those FYE's is in the Mall Of America. A pretty big one too....also lame.

You must be like me Alan, near franchise FYEs and not those belonging to the parent company. FYE decided to pull out of almost every single market and many of the FYEs left are merely franchise stores that chose to stay open and keep the franchising agreement alive.

As such they are not required to follow the nationwide sales - like $10 for every new CD, etc. etc. All the ones in Texas are the same - selection is piss poor, prices are outrageous, etc. How they stay open I have no clue.

The FYE Superstore just came up a few years ago. There was always an FYE in the mall (which sucks), but once the Media Play went out of business, I guess FYE took charge.

I'm not sure how they stay open either. I rarely see anyone shopping in them. To be fair, I don't know how any music store charging nearly $20 a CD survives in the digital age. Especially when you're selling nothing but pop music 90% of the time (going on what I've seen anyway).

Shaun, they sell cassettes at that FYE?
