Scarface
K-Rino
Jay-Z
Nas
UGk/DJ Quik

A top 5 was very hard I feel i'm leaving people out.

My criteria is they have to have more than 4 albums and only one blemish in their discog and two are allowed if they have more than 8 or so albums.

Right now I'd have to say Nas (of course), Jay-Z, Scarface, UGK, and the last selection is up for grabs.

Redman
Roots
Atmosphere (I said it... Nothing amazing, but A LOT of replay material)
Ghostface
Jedi Mind Tricks (Just like Atmosphere, except a couple 5 star efforts to boot- throw in AOTP and solo efforts, look out)

Nas and Jay Z both have terrible albums in their discogs, as well. They've both released albums as bad as Malpractice and Red Gone Wild, and that's being objective.

I know you're being objective here, however, and I'll admit, my personal bias comes into play when it comes to Nas (especially) and Jay.

Nas is LAUGHABLE.

I Am
Nastradamus
God's Son
Street's Disciple
Untitled

Wait a second, that's more wack/average albums then dope (especially when taking into consideration SD is a double album), let's check

Illmatic
It Was Written
Stillmatic
Hip Hop Is Dead

Yup that's what I thought, and Lost Tapes doesn't fucking count for obvious reasons, because then we might as well count greatest hits and the like.

Jay-Z discog is easily on par with Nas. Imo Jay has no weak albums only two decent ones and those was Hard Knock Life and BP2.

Also Nas only has one album that can be considered weak imo and even that one is decent and not as bad as crtics say.

Strictly Business
Unfinished Business
Business As Usual

IMO all of the above are 5 star all-time classics!

then:

Business Never Personal-4.50 stars

Back In Business-4 stars

Out Of Business-3 stars

We Mean Business-4 stars

now of course all of this is my opinion....but EPMD IMO doesn't have any straight up wack albums and 3 all-time classics to the credit...they are a legit choice under this thread!

IMO, Vol. 2, BP2, Dynasty, and Kingdom Come are all weak. Black Album, Reasonable Doubt, and Vol. 1 are all very good (with Black Album being 5 stars). The rest range from average to good, to me.

None of those are too good. And the last two are pretty bad, IMO. I'm not a big EPMD fan, though.

Jay's discog on par with Nas? Could be. I also feel that Jay has no weak albums also, and Nastradamus is certainly not as bad as most people say.

Nastradamus is definitely as bad as people say. Even with Nastradamus being a train wreck, Nas still deserves to be mentioned. I'm in no way a fan of Street's Disciple, but it's certainly not below average IMO. The rest of his discog is dope.

Also, the people throwing Jay-Z out there are obviously excluding those two coasters he did with R. Kelly. Shame on you. Those albums are absolutely part of his discog.

Hard Knock Life and Dynasty are both excellent IMO. BP3 does have some filler, but it's still very good overall. Kingdom Come, well, it's not as bad as most have been lead to believe.

Well I never tried to compare who's betta between the two and I argee that dead prez are no where near the legacy of PE. Even though both members of DP are more lyrical than Chuck D easily. And I do "dig" PE they are one of my fav grps but mostly on the strength of their singles and certain songs more so than album wise. 4 PE albums rank very high with me but the rest were average imo.

Lol..you are correct I did not even put htose two in the eqaution for Jay's discog. But I liked Best Of Both Worlds Vol. 1 so the only coaster was Vol. 2. Vol 1 was a 3.5 or so album easily.

I don't include the Best of Both World albums, respectively.

Of course you didn't, but they are still part of Jay's discog.

Only solo albums Terry, lol.

I'm not seeing the PE discog as being top notch. But I know I am in the very very minority on that one.

That you are Kev, that you are.....

I can't see how someone could love Dead Prez but not dig PE. Dead Prez ain't in their league at all.

They do have a few average albums but I'd say most of them are above 4 stars. They also have 4 classics IMO and Yo Bumrush The Show is doper than most in this forum give it credit for.

No Wayne. You can't count Roc La Familia and then ignore the two R. Kelly albums.
