What Powell, KJ, and any other especially old school supporter who has lost some faith in this rap thing. Have you guys checked out

Celph Titled- Gatalog - this dude is a monsta on the mic and imo with a lot more listens one of the best when it comes to punchlines and wordplay. His beats bang also and this is 4 disc of all types of good hip hop and some dope guest. I am surprised he does not get mentioned more when discussing lyricists. I highly rec you check this out!

Grip Grand- Brokelore- This to me is a 2nd coming of Below The Heavens and I think you guys would really dig the honesty and vibe of this album. Grip does not have the most compelling delivery but his flow and lyrics make up for that big time. I got that same feeling almost when I heard this that I got when I heard Below the Heavens.

these two undaground cats have a nice retro rhyming style to me and I think you guys would dig it.

Kev, what would you rate the Gatalog? I've wanted to hear it since I heard good things about Celph Titled but the 4 disc album kind of turned me away from it. Got any more opinions about it?

I would give it a 4.0 for all 4 disc together but some disc are stronger than others of course but it has a lot of good songs which surprised me because I was expecting tons of filler. His production reminds me of those harder Def Squad type beats. I highly rec at least a download that's what I did.

Speaking of old schoolers, GK3 was all about this album. I need to listen to the rest of this set. It's been a while.

The Grip Grand is fire!

I'll check it out then, I'm thinking its going to get repetitive going through about 75 new songs from the same rapper. Guess I'll have to throw some other stuff in between these 4 cd's.

I keep meaning to check out Grip Grand, but the prices have stayed right aroudn $8-$9. IMO, that is too much money to spend on a chance.

You're missing out. Maybe not though, we do have different tastes. I pre-ordered the album after bumping the hell out of the advance before it dropped. Honestly, one of my most replayed albums I bought last year.

One problem with Celph Titled is if you hear one verse, you've heard 99% of his repertoire. It's good that there are so many other spitters in the collection. Also, I don't like the kind of beats the Demigodz tend to favor, but some might.

Brokelore, I never got the Below the Heavens feeling, but it's a strong album.

smh that Grip Grand album was solid as fuck...one of the better albums released last year. I've been meaning to cop the "Gatalog" but it's cost too much. Waiting on a deal for that one.

Thanks for the recs Kev, I'll check them out....

I just got done listening to Brooklynati by Tanya Morgan, and Pounds was right, it's dope as fuck! Not quite a classic, but dope nonetheless. After one spin I'll give it 4.25 stars.

I'm about to download Double Barrel by Marco Polo and Torae, I'll let y'all know how I feel about that one after I spin it.

KJ, Grip Grand's album is real dope. Plus, the flow/production on the album is switched up a bunch. You get real soulful beats (Hip Hop Classic, Poppin' Pockets Remix), to hard, free flowing beats (Handle That, 96 Tears) and everything in between. I have a feeling you'll dig this one.

With Celph Titled, picture Redman or Sean Price talking soley about guns and whack emcees. That's what you get with Celph. Metaphor heavy battle rhymes over strong boom bap type beats, and heavy rock influenced production

It's dope for sure, I don't care what the haters have to say. I'll probably listen to it again before the night is over.

Marco Polo & Torae's "Double Barrel" is a complete BANGER!!! Easily the best Duck Down release since Nocturnal by Heltah Skeltah. I'm almost inclined to call it a classic because I liked every track, but I've got to spin it again giving it that status.

Who suckin nuts? I'm just keepin it real! I don't think it's better than Budden but I do like it better than Jada's album. While Jada is a better lyricist than the guys from TM, I thought TM's album was more consistent and was better produced.

Dude, seriously. You're going around acting like your opinion is the law, and that's fuckin LAME! Sorry, but it is.

Agreed. There ya go. Can't add much to that statement except to say Double Barrel and Brooklynatti are both the 2 highest rated Cd's of my 09 collection so far. 5+5. It will take more than a lackluster Blackout 2 which was a let down from Blackout 1 and The Last Kiss which is barely Jada's 3rd best album to take those cd's down.
