There's tons of albums I love from 1990, but those five are my most played.

| After looking at the competition, if it hasn't been said for 1990 Ice Cube had the album of the year. Mama Said Knock You Out and Let the Rhythm Hit Em may be his only competition. | |

Cube had a TON of competition that year, lots of classics dropped that year. But I agree that AMW was the album of the year in 1990. To this day, it remains my 2nd favorite West Coast album. |

Can't decide on a fifth. Tribe, Eric B & Rakim, Above The Law, and Masta Ace could all fill the spot

Lol you know what you can go do right? Anyway that album I know is not a popular pick but it was a sentimental pick for me. I know its not a classic but I played that tape to death. It was one of the few I had access to around that time and it got mad play. So I did not feel right picking none of the other obvious choices just to fit in with the crowd. Keepin it real son, you feel me? |

| I can't lie, I'd be hard pressed to come up with so many myself...I'm just saying, that's why I think AMW is so accessible. It's just got a NY vibe to it. It's got some West coast feeling too, Cube definitely fits naturally.

I dunno, maybe it's all in my head... And thats one of the main reasons I luv Death Certificate so much. Imo its pretty far ahead of AMW in terms of overall quality. And DC is where he started to get more back in touch with his west coast roots. |

You're saying that I love AMW so much because it's got East Coast production (The Bomb Squad) and that's BS. While I do love the production, I thought Cube spit fire on the album. He's my fav West Coast MC, so eat a fat dick. |

I don't think there's much of a gap between AMW and DC at all. AMW is the perfect example of how great a rap album can be if everybody takes their bullshit coastal biases out of it and just enjoy the music. |

I didn't mean it to disparage other artists great and classic contributions for that year, I'm just recognizing the fact Ice Cube was at head above the rest although he was surrounded by good company.
