Anyway that album I know is not a popular pick but it was a sentimental pick for me. I know its not a classic but I played that tape to death. It was one of the few I had access to around that time and it got mad play. So I did not feel right picking none of the other obvious choices just to fit in with the crowd. I can't lie, I'd be hard pressed to come up with so many myself...I'm just saying, that's why I think AMW is so accessible. It's just got a NY vibe to it. It's got some West coast feeling too, Cube definitely fits naturally.

And thats one of the main reasons I luv Death Certificate so much. Imo its pretty far ahead of AMW in terms of overall quality. And DC is where he started to get more back in touch with his west coast roots.

I don't think there's much of a gap between AMW and DC at all. AMW is the perfect example of how great a rap album can be if everybody takes their bullshit coastal biases out of it and just enjoy the music.

I didn't mean it to disparage other artists great and classic contributions for that year, I'm just recognizing the fact Ice Cube was at head above the rest although he was surrounded by good company.
