| Nice list, Jason. Only thing I would change is Common
1. Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP 2. Ghostface - Supreme Clientele 3. Reflection Eternal - Train of Thought 4. Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030 5. Let's Get Free
While not the best year, very tough year to whittle down to five. |

While not the best year, very tough year to whittle down to five. That's my list, just switch Em with ghost. Both Em and Ghost dropped 5 star albums that year.

| When the majority of us have 3 or more of the same albums in our top fives somethings suspect imo. I noticed with 98-00 most people list had the same albums but 90-97 we were all over the place. Seems like the high quality pickings were slim maybe? |

I think there were a lot of really good albums, but few great albums.

Oh shit I missed him saying Common's 3rd or 4th best album was album of the year in 2000, and he also left off Eminem, he clearly was sleeping that year, lol. |

Lol it's a rank based on number of posts. Probably White is 1000+. If you see Steve he has 100 Club Member as his. I'll take any suggestions if you want the rank to change.

Yes Stevie, to me Like Water For Chocolate was the album of the year for that very weak year IMO oh and at number 6, that year for me was Shyne-Shyne and at number 7 for me that year was: Ludacris-Back For The First Time Eminem slides his ass in at number 8 for me that year now you've got a bunch of "ammo" to use huh???

| Kj I thought Shyne's debut was 4.5 stars man...that shit was bangin over by me and mine...the production was sick.....the lyrics were decent and the only complaint I had was the similiar sound to the legend....but I didn't think it was too ridiculous...as for Eminem, I've never seen the hype nor been a big fan of him and I've said this before so none of this should be to shocking to you mane (mayne) | |

I know you're not the biggest Em fan but I thought you'd think MMLP was at least 4.5 stars. I'm a Bad Boy (in it's prime) fan but that Shyne album did nothing for me personally. He's a below average lyricist. The production was good but not enough to save that album from mediocrity IMO. He makes Cam'ron sound like Jay, and I hate Cam, LOL. |

| Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030 Jedi Mind Tricks - Violent By Design Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele Zion-I - Mind Over Matter Jurassic 5 - Quality Control
Near misses:
Dilated Peoples - The Platform Afu-Ra - Body Of The Life Force The Dwellas - The Last Shall Be First (I think this one is highly underrated)

| see I don't think that Shyne is a below average lyricist.....I think he's average...below average are heads like Souljah Boi or Group home and I feel he's better than those guys...as for the production on it that shit was dope IMO I've got MMLP at 4.25 stars...it's a very good effort for him...I actually have his debut rated a little higher to be honest...but the hype and shit surrounding Eminem I have NEVER understood...to me he's just not that nice man...he's a good emcee whose looked at like he's the second coming of Rakim, Kane and Biggie and I just don't hear any of that but I've got my own ideas why that happened ....it's all good though mane (mayne) | |

But some of those silly tracks are funny and even lyrical at times (Kill You, As The World Turns, I'm Back, Can-A-Bitch, etc). Some of them are wack but overall I can understand why he does it. Shit like that sells records. I agree that he's not as good as the 3 guys you mentioned, but when dude truly wants to bring the heat, he does so in a major way (Stan, The Way I Am, Till I Collapse, I Just Don't Give A Fuck, Soldier, Lose Yourself, Not Afraid, etc). He ranks somewhere in my Top 20 of all time because of his consistency. I haven't liked everything he's ever dropped but he's definitely dropped more dopeness than wackness. |
