Mos Def is the more talented MC than Face...i rate Face higher, but for the purposes of this thread i have to vote Mos, his potential and talent is second to none

It seems like throughout the tournament people have been dogging Mos, and I don't get why. I mean it's totally cool with me if he loses to 'Face (which seems imminent), that's totally fair, but I get feeling that many here don't even feel like he should have been in the running for GOAT, and that I don't understand at all.

Mos doesn't have a great catalog. That's true, but BOBS (and Black Star too but I don't count that) is a straight 5* classic. That, to me, is undeniable. New Danger is meh, and Tru3 Magic is pretty lame, but Ecstatic is a 4* or better easy (I personally thought it was the best album of 2009).

'Face has a much longer and more prolific career. He is an innovator and a living legend with multiple classic albums, and of course a very skilled and personal artist (plus he's from Houston to boot), but in my opinion, when Mos is spitting like he can, 'Face can't fuck with him lyrically, creatively or subject matter-wise, and especially not flow-wise. Mos easily has a top 5 flow.

But, like I said, I have no problem with Mos losing to Scarface here ('Face is top 15 to me, Mos is top 10) because of the reasons I stated above. My only issue (and it wasn't really an issue, just a curiosity) was that it seemed that people didn't even think Mos should have been the GOAT tourney at all, and that is ridiculous to me.

That's fair, but I think it has to do mainly with how the match-ups shook out. For example, Big Pun being jettisoned in the first round was a travesty.
