| Mos Def is the more talented MC than Face...i rate Face higher, but for the purposes of this thread i have to vote Mos, his potential and talent is second to none | |

| It seems like throughout the tournament people have been dogging Mos, and I don't get why. I mean it's totally cool with me if he loses to 'Face (which seems imminent), that's totally fair, but I get feeling that many here don't even feel like he should have been in the running for GOAT, and that I don't understand at all. | |

Mos Def's only great album is Black On Both Sides unless you wanna throw in Blackstar. Face has one of the best discogs in history. Brad Jordan wins this one in a rout. |

Mos Def's only great album is Black On Both Sides unless you wanna throw in Blackstar. Face has one of the best discogs in history. Brad Jordan wins this one in a rout. Mos doesn't have a great catalog. That's true, but BOBS (and Black Star too but I don't count that) is a straight 5* classic. That, to me, is undeniable. New Danger is meh, and Tru3 Magic is pretty lame, but Ecstatic is a 4* or better easy (I personally thought it was the best album of 2009). 'Face has a much longer and more prolific career. He is an innovator and a living legend with multiple classic albums, and of course a very skilled and personal artist (plus he's from Houston to boot), but in my opinion, when Mos is spitting like he can, 'Face can't fuck with him lyrically, creatively or subject matter-wise, and especially not flow-wise. Mos easily has a top 5 flow. But, like I said, I have no problem with Mos losing to Scarface here ('Face is top 15 to me, Mos is top 10) because of the reasons I stated above. My only issue (and it wasn't really an issue, just a curiosity) was that it seemed that people didn't even think Mos should have been the GOAT tourney at all, and that is ridiculous to me.

Mos deserves to be in the tourney based on skills alone. He certainly deserved a berth rather than bums like Lil Wayne. I like Mos personally and I have no problem with him being in the tourney, but there's other guys that I feel should still be in the running other than him. It's whatever though, because this tourney ain't gonna change my GOAT rankings at all. |

For example, Big Pun being jettisoned in the first round was a travesty.

| Hmm, tough. I'll go Mighty Mos just barely over Face. I've been on a Mighty Mos jam lately, been bumping all his albums. | |
