PostSubject: Thug Life Vol. 1   Sun 07 Nov 2010, 10:38 pm

I don't hear a lot of talk about this album when discussing fav's and Pac period. So I was just curious on what are some of the thoughts and feelings about this album.

Whats your fav song?

Least fav?

Who was the 2nd best emcee on this album?

Is is a classic?

What do you rate it?

Where does it rank in his discog?

When did you first hear it and/or get it?

I'll be buying this again soon. I had it when it was new but it got stolen. I don't remember specifics but i remember loving the album. Didn't this have "Pour Out A Little Liquor" and "Bury Me A G" on it? Those 2 songs were dope but if i remember correctly, it's probably about a 4.25-4.5 album. Can't wait to get it again.

Liquor was on there. Personally I feel any Pac fan would need this.

Album's one of the most overlooked pieces of the 2Pac saga. Not only is it a ridiculously good record of sunny Cali funk, but being that it came out right before he went to jail and signed to Death Row I sort of see it as a path his career might have taken had Suge not stepped in. Plus it's the only album he recorded with a group, and the production is real nice. I still spin this a lot, perhaps more than any of his solo stuff if only because I'm so used to his solo classics. All the talk about death on here is really chilling with the knowledge of what awaited him two years down the road.

Whats your fav song? "How Long Will They Mourn Me"...still gives me the chills. Plus Warren and Nate Dogg are the shit. Should have hooked up with Pac more often.

Least fav? Both of the tracks without Pac are easily the most suspect..."Don't Get It Twisted" and "Street Fame" if my memory serves me correctly.

Who was the 2nd best emcee on this album? I'll go with Syke.

Is is a classic? Sure.

What do you rate it? 4.5

Where does it rank in his discog? Mmmm...hard to say being as it's a group album...I'll go third or fourth.

When did you first hear it and/or get it? Sophomore year of high school...which would put it at '05 or '06.

Whats your fav song? This is hard so i'll say tied between Under Pressure and Bury Me A G.

Least fav? Street Fame or Don't Get It Twisted. Dope songs just not on the level of the others.
Who was the 2nd best emcee on this album? Big Syke but Rated R is on his heels.

Is is a classic? Hell yeah.

What do you rate it? 4.75

Where does it rank in his discog? His 4th best. Could be 3rd.

When did you first hear it and/or get it? Back around the time it dropped. I use to see it all the time but never got it because I was not sure if Pac on the album or not. Me and a friend made a deal where he bought Thug Life and i bought something else and we would exchange dubs. Needless to say I was mad I did not buy it. I don't even remember the tape I bought.

I haven't listened to this in about a year. About time to get it in rotation.

Favorite track: Shit Don't Stop

Least fav: nothing comes to mind as being terrible, honestly

Classic: I'd say

Rating: 4.5

Rank: third, easily

Second best emcee: I don't remember anyone blowing my mind on this...for some reason, Mopreme comes to mind, but that could be just because he says his name so often.

I got it when it first came out. I was locked up on board the ship in the navy and had to have my friend pick it up for me.

When the pressure's on it's a hit. Ski mask, extra gat, bring your clips. Don't nobody move when we walk the streets, they stay silent, 'cause talk is cheap.
