What album from this year did you really enjoy that you got rec'd on this site you wouldn't have checked out otherwise?

Strange Music has this wrapped up. 2 that i wouldn't have checked for:

Brotha Lynch "DAAM"-damn close to a 5 star album.

Cognito "Automatic"-not the complete album like the Lynch, but some dope ass tracks.

I'll also throw in Strong Arm Steady "Stoney Jackson" and Currensy "Pilot Talk".

I would say 1212. That's really the only album that I've bought this year (and enjoyed thoroughly) that I didn't know about on my own.

This is hard for me cause i generally peep everything without it having to be rec'd to me. however, I think Esham-Suspended Animation would fit the bill here.

I just love this CD!!

For a newer, less established artist, I'd have to go with the PackFM album as well. 4.5 stars and excellent replay value. Can't get enough of that east coast old school throwback style he's ripping.

I have this CD but never got around to playing it yet. East Coast Old School style? It'll be next in rotation!!

The PackFM didn't impress me at all really. Cool concept and some funny intros/skits but I only liked about half of the actual tracks. He certainly has some potential but I don't think it was lived up to on that album.

This one slipped right under the radar.

DJ JS-1 - No Sell Out

This CD is full of slamin' beats and a who's who of hip hop greats: Large Pro, Chino XL, CL Smooth, Bro Ali, AG, Pharoah Monch, Term, Ill Bill, J-Live, Vinny Paz and many others. Also has a cool interlude by DJ Premier.

There is not a dull moment on this CD. All the songs flow togerther nicely from beginning to end. Plus there's a song with a very unusual combo of KRS-1 & Canibus.

4.5 stars after one listen. Definately get your hands on this one.
