We all know about the usual suspects Slick Rick, Cube, and Face. But who are 5 rappers you feel are if not as good as them or better but should be mentioned?

Slug
Prince Paul
Immortal Technique
Boots
Q-Unique

Just a few most might not mention, rather than a Top 5 really. I do believe Slug to be an elite storyteller, though.

1. Fresh Prince- I have been listening to more of his discog and he was a great storyteller. Matter of fact most of his songs were in story form. While I know this was a normal thing back in the golden era he told stores exceptionally well. It takes talent to do humor well on a variety of different stories.

2. Kool G Rap- while I know he is respected and praised as an pioneer and lyrical legend. I think we underrate this story skills. While he's not as diverse a teller as Slick Rick or Fresh Prince. He is king in his comfort zone of mafia/gangsta stories.

3. Ghostface Killah- he has to be the most live storyteller period. Unlike all of the above his stories play like an cult classic action movie or some shit. You feel like you are there.

4. Raekwon- The other half of the best tag team storytellers in rap period. While Ghost stories seem alive, Rae's stories seem very well narrated. Rae's stories would make good crime story books. Only knock just like G Rap he's stuck on one type of story majority of the time.

5. Devin The Dude- Think Slick Rick meets Too Short. this dude tells some of the funniest stories and is comfortable telling all types of stories while effortlessy injecting humor. Very very underrated cat.

Honorable mention:
Ice-T
Immortal Technique
Nas
Biggie
K-Rino

Damn I forgot Biggie. His storytelling skills were damn good. Good pick.

And Lewis I see great minds think alike. Technique tells some vivid stories in the vein of Face.

Not seeing the Redman pick. Yeah he was dope on the Soopa Man Luva series but outside of that nothing really.

Edit: Good call Trotter, missed Jeru on your list.

he's underrated as a storyteller though...you'd be surprised at how many heads never think of Biggie as one of the premier story tellers...which he is by the way!

I don't think Biggie is even a good story teller.

K-Rino is also a great storyteller

K-Rino is a dope pick. Easily could make top 10 for me.

Imo Biggie is one of the best story tellers in the chracter development department. The style that Ghost and Rae use developing chracters can be traced back to Biggie imo.

I agree with Parker on Slug, dude is among the elite in storytelling. It's almost like you are actually there living the song. Sunshine is an great example of that.

1. Masta Ace (Practicly all of Ace's songs are stories)
2. Raekwon (OB4CL2 is full of them)
3. Slug (Same as Ace)
4. KRS-One (Love's Gonna Get ya, 100 Guns, Can't Stop Won't Stop, Hole, Can't Wake Up, etc.)
5. Craig G (Probably due to a lack of fanbase)

Deron Williams went completely under the radar so I can understand why he was overlooked, but Marvin definitely shouldn't have been picked over CP3.

CP3 had a better college career, and Marvin Williams was overhyped because of the UNC championship win. I like Deron better than both though, he's the best PG in the NBA right now.
