SMH, it doesn't sound dated to me. I hear a number of those beats being recycled even today. And lyrically I personally like it better than Disposable Arts although I consider that album a classic as well.

He didn't say it sounded dated to you. Where have you heard anything from Take A Look Around used again?

1. Take A Look Around has dated production. it sounds like it was made in the 80's/early 90's. Some beats just transcend time. These do not.

2. People make it sound like dated is a bad word just like overrated. they are not bad words at all. it is what it is. Criminal Minded is one of my all time favorite albums, and the production is dated as all fucking hell. I think Linker could recreate those beats right now using pots and pans currently in his trailer, but those beats add to the albums charm.

@Shaun- Do you listen to R&B at all. A lot of Marley's beats from TALA come from popular R&B songs, and have been used again.

@Terry- I think people overrate today's production personally, not to say that it isn't dope but a lot of the 80's beats are bangin and still relevant. I love the beats on CM and TALA and Marley Marl is one of my all time favorite producers.

I like the Ace album, but not as much as plenty of others from 1990. In this particular case, I like it better than CMW. If it was up against something like Geto Boys or The Devil Made Me Do It, my vote would easily go against Ace.

R&B doesn't count... and also using the SAMPLE he used on a certain beat does not equal USING THE BEAT again...

Also agree here as well. The Ace sounds dated cause it's old, but it doesn't really sound old for it's time IMO.
