Syrup, I know that you and most normal people can extract deeper meaning from reading or hearing something but Powell cannot. If you do not say exactly what was said in the original piece he can't follow the conversation. Or he makes shit up, like saying that I want him to leave the forum and calls you horrible names like pizza. It's sad how many kids suffer from poor reading comprehension.

When he was talking about the live shows he was talking about how when they came up they paid dues and learned how to put on a show that way, so to me that is him saying new artists aren't paying proper dues and therefore don't know how to put on a live show. The whole clip is him basically complaining how things were better in the past.

and that's just his opinion Pedro....it's no big deal!

I was answering your question fool.. keep up here...smh

I love the way that this clip has made this forum alive again man...this has actually turned out to be a great thing...lol

Ghost is correct on everything he's saying. It's annoying to have to try to dig in the crates for dope hip-hop when over a decade ago it was readily available to us. Back then, even underground artists got their albums in stores. Nowadays not so much and it sucks ass. If an MC like Reks had come out 15 years ago, his CD would be available everywhere. Nowadays you can only get it online.

The real blame on the decline of hip-hop music lies on the dumbass A&R guys who value marketability over talent. These artists are being promoted heavily, hence the kids and women are buying their records and said A&R guys are ignoring hip-hop's main fan base which are the diehard fans who grew up on the 80's and 90's hip-hop.

So Ghost is right, hip-hop is changing and NOT for the better. It's really sad.

I agree with most of that but I don't think the fact that albums are not in stores means anything. Unfortunately for you and others, KJ, records stores are dying quickly. Pretty soon, it will not be cost effective to even press CDs so everything will be digital only. The RZA was up on game...that's why he didn't go with his original nickname, Bobby Analog...lol.

And as for the A&R guys...they really have no choice. Like you said, they are looking to please women and teens because they control the market. Money talks...

Laughing My Ass Off

can somebody please move this thread.....put this one in the highest ranks of classic..lol

Good points KJ...I agree with everything mentioned by Ghost as well....and it's funny to me because it's coming from an artist that has been in the game for over 20 years, never really sold out, has always given us quality music, is one of the best lyrically, is still making quality albums even today, and he's still saying how the game has "evolved" into something less than what it should be, mainly due to lazy artists, a lack of history on these new guys part, fucked up DJ's, and greed.....

this is co-signage 1000% right here for GHOST!

This thread cannot be considered classic until at least 10 years have passed.

entertaining thread...

Ghost has been guilty of doing wack songs and wack ass collaborations he shouldn't be doing if he wants to speak like this

Also, i agree with KJ that the difference is you have to dig a lot more for good/diverse hip hop and yes, its changing for the worse. In about 10 years i will probably stop checking for new hip hop altogether...once my favorites all stop rapping i will be living in the past, because honestly the 90's still have hundreds of dope artists i havent even heard yet that i keep finding out about and go back. Sure there will be maybe one new act a year that i like (Odd Future, Hopsin, Freddie Gibbs) for example but the majority of these guys i simply cannot fuck with. The Bay is one of the only regions continuing to push that raw dope with an original flavor. The problem is no one knows about it but to me, thats not all so bad

and its definitely not asinine to say nothing is better than Slick Rick...because nothing is, period.
