I doubt too many people care, but just in case i'm wrong, drop your thoughts here. I'll be back later with mine.

I thought it was a decent album. It wasn't bad at all, but a lot of the tracks just kinda blend together and they are somewhat forgetable. It doesn't stray too far from their signature sound so they probably won't be gaining new fans with the release but Pounds will probably love this. The 2 standout tracks for me were Too Many Rappers w/Nas and Long Burn The Fire.

Damn, forgot about this. I'll download it and then pick it up on Friday if I like it. Thanks for the review though Terry. I like the Nas song that was leaked though, it's a banger.

Yeah, it's not a bad album at all KJ, and it's better to me on the 2nd spin.

I will probably check this out though. I only own the first 4. Should I check something else out before I check this one out?

What i've heard is Check Your Head mixed with Ill Communication with a little less guitar. This is an addictive album. I've spun this 3 times today, and it gets better with each spin.

Gave it a spin yeasterday, as a die-hard Beasties fan I consider myself satisfied.

Props to T.Myers, I felt the same things that he noted, they're back to the Check Your Head/Ill Communication era, and mixed up the two.

I can't say I'm loving the album. I prefer the cleaner sound they had on To The 5 Boroughs. The effects are too much on this IMO. Too many filters, and definitely not enough standouts. I hate to say it's definitely my least favorite Beasties Boys album. Hard to say since this is one of my favorite artists/groups of all time. It's not bad, but I'm not digging the direction.

This sounds like a throwback, with the positives and the negatives. The positive is that they abandoned the cleaner sound of To The 5 Boroughs, which is their less favorable album IMHO. They put away politics issues, which I found positive too. The thing that I don't like is distortion on many vocals, that I didn't like in Ill Communication too when it came out.

Much better than To The 5 Boroughs, but to me still inferior to Hello Nasty.

This album is great. They certainly have a way of coming brand new but still staying Beastie with it. I think this'll get a lot of attention from me for a while.

Hmm, gotta disagree there. To The 5 Boroughs was world's better IMO. Same with Hello Nasty. Ill Communication was my least favorite until now.

I just can't get into this album. To The 5 Boroughs has a ton of standout cuts:

Ch-Check It Out
3 The Hard Way
Rhyme The Rhyme Well
Triple Trouble
Oh Word?
Open Letter To NYC

All of those are classic Beastie Boys cuts IMO. I've had this album at 5 stars since day 1; and I'd probably say it's my #1 album of 2004.

Hello Nasty, I have at 4.5-5 stars....depending on my mood.

Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 gets a 3.5/5 from me. While Ill Communication gets 4 stars.

This album was somewhat average. I do dig thier signature style (which hasn't changed since 1987), but the lyrics were very hard to understand as they were muffled by the beats. There were a few bangers, but not a very high replay value IMO. I give it a solid 3 stars.

I can't agree to this. Hot Sauce Committee is a very good one, there is no filler cuts. 5 Bouroughs had 3 o 4 of them, sloppy beats.

I'm lovin' HSC, my rating is 3,5/4 stars. 5 Boroughs is 3/3,5. IMO naturally.

To The 5 Boroughs was an all out banger. I actually bumped it about 7 times last week after hearing their new one. 5 Boroughs murders it. Completely.

Sloppy beats on 5 Boroughs? Not hearing it. Hot Sauce is one big sloppy album IMO. All the beats are sloppy and distorted. Same with the vocals. It's made to sound sloppy, while 5 Boroughs was made to sound slick and clean. It's a preference thing IMO since they sound so different.

I disagree. I didn't like a number of the beats on 5 Boroughs, and there was way too much political rhyming about the current state of the government for much of the album. I don't mind a song or two about that, but it seemed to be the theme for half the album. Hot Sauce Committee was a return to the fun loving, partying Beasties that I know and love.

I'm kinda more on Alan's side of things here, although I do prefer this to the 5 Boroughs. I like it, I'll give it 3.5 stars. But some of the tracks are boring and you can tell they are trying to compensate for their lack of presence on the mic more than ever with the over the top production (which sounds pretty cool on the headphones, i must admit). The hip hop album that will be played at all the new year's parties on wall street. Not bad though.
