| Me and a friend were discussing which aritst dropped 3 classic or great albums in row. Meaning that out of those 1st three either one of them could easily be their best album. And I was surprised how hard it was to name a lot of them.
Here's some we we came up with:
ATCQ Ice Cube Outkast Spice 1 Eminem BDP EPMD Redman
We debated over a few more like Quik, Geto Boys (if not including the original line-up's debut), and Public Enemy.
So do you guys agree with the one's I listed? And who else would you add?

Imo Bum Rush is no where on the level of Nations or Fear of... so that is why I did not list it. If you really look at the ones I mentioned all their first 3 albums can be compared to easch other quality wise without much room for debate. As far as LL his 1st 2 are hard to ignore but I never really here classic talk about the 3rd one. And I like that one a lot.

So does this mean it has to be their first 3? Or can it be any 3 albums in a row?

I think most people would agree that Tougher Than Leather is better than King Of Rock. Not sure if that affects what you're saying here though.

Scarface Too Hard To Swallow kills that imo. Don't know many who consider that great or classic. Especially when compared to Super Tight and Ridin Dirty. But its a push and I can see some debate in that. Same with The World Is Yours. Its a good album but not great as the two its in between.

How about these guys? Rakim I know will get the nod because he's Rakim. But I'm the wrong person to give an opinion on those other 2 albums. Can't speak on Cunn. Cypress Hill? To me III is no where as good as the 1st 2. Dad EFX? LMAO! Nah but fa real I need to revist their 2nd album. I remeber not digging it much. Masta Ace I don't know. Ice-T? I never here high talk about Rhyme Pays from multi sources. So no imo.

| I think that there are 4 artists that was capable to do 3 great albums in a row:
1) Public Enemy: It Takes A Nation and Fear is a classic combo, and Apocalypse is not classic but is great;
2) ATCQ: classic debut, and two other smashing albums like Low End Theory and Marauders;
3) Ice T, probbably underrated: Power, Iceberg and OG are three absolute bangers;
4) Beastie Boys: Licensed to Ill, Paul's Boutique, and Check Your Head, maybe four in a row counting Ill Communication
Gang Starr and Cube are very close, but I never tought that neither Hard To Earn nor Predator was in the same category as Step In The Arena, Daily Operation, Amerikkka's and Death Certificate.

I don't agree with Eminem (SSLP and MMLP are way above the rest of his catalog imo) and EPMD (assuming you are starting from Strictly but even if you aren't I'm not a big fan of Business As Usual). The rest of those picks are good though. I'd say Public Enemy with their first three, Gang Starr starting from either Step In The Arena or Daily Operation, dalek starting from From Filthy Tongue..., and MF Doom (including his aliases).

But going off their first three albums, Gang Starr would be: No More Mr. Nice Guy, Step In The Arena, and Daily Operation. NMMG is easily the weakest of that trio. So, Gang Starr isn't as close as you'd think.

If it's classics than the list isn't all that long. but I can name tons of MC's/groups that have dropped 3 straight great albums.

anyway to think of more:
KILLARMY
Del The Funky Homosapien (Wish my Brother, No Need for Alarm, Both Sides of the Brain) - since Future Development was never officially released in 97
Brotha Lynch Hung (starting with 24 Deep)
Jedi Mind Tricks
Lord Finesse
Kool G Rap & DJ Polo
Fat Joe, lol, im serious too his first 3 were all damn good and its hard to pick the best
Mac Mall
Mobb Deep
Wu Tang Clan
De La Soul
MF Grimm
