Been bumping the shit out of this CD lately. Gotta give it the full 5 stars. Fuckin' west coast/underground/political rap classic IMO.

What? Oh, that's right. You hate on a lot of shit...but I figured you'd like The Coup cause they're funky. Boots is easily one of my top 10 emcees of all time. I love his flow, but his songwriting is what's so killer. How much Coup have you heard? The message is the meat of it man. Totally revolutionary. The attitude seeping off the tracks is always so ill.

Respectable choices. Souls and Pharcyde don't really make the top 5 for me because they don't have a big enough catalog....or not enough high quality albums/classics. To me, The Coup has 5 albums, and they got 5 bangers....3 being classic, and one being near....one being 4 stars.

To me, it seems like you downplay ±70% of things that are not funky. I may be wrong since we don't discuss much, but you surprise me with some things that you praise too. I trash on lots of shit too....not trying to be insulting.

Ya, I think Boots & The Coup are good at what they do, but to be top 5 I have to like the voice as well...that's really more important to me I guess than the actual message, but to have both is great. That is why I said he sounds like shit, it's a "melodic" (I guess is the word?) issue.
