| Hey this was inspired by what I've been doing with the "Chatbox" thread. Anyway there's a thread in the rateyourmusic forum (anyone here use rateyourmusic?) where a poster looks through another poster's library and asks them to review and rate something they haven't reviewed and rated yet. Then another poster asks that poster to do the same, and it continues like that. Example:
Half: yo ask me to review something
Zoned Out Mackin: ok review Beneath The Surface by GZA
Cise: hey Zoned Out review Evolution Fight by Cyne
...and it goes like that. Of course we don't have our libraries archived here, so it will be a little different. Basically anything goes, just suggest an album you would like to hear another poster's perspective on. If the poster has it, great. If the poster doesn't have it they could look for it or the other poster could give them a link or where to get it for really cheap. If people actually participate it could serve a lot of purposes - it could provide a lot of room for discussion, introduce posters to good stuff they haven't heard before, and give people an idea of where they stand on certain styles/artists etc.
The reviews only have to be a paragraph (about 5 sentences) long but you can go longer if you want. And you obviously can't ask a poster who isn't participating in the thread to review something. Once you listen and do a review quote the poster who asked you to do the review and put the review as a response. It might seem complicated but it really isn't.
Anyone up for this? I'll be the starter.

Review this:
http://www.whutitdew.com/ This was pretty cool. I haven't heard of Rapid Ric before but I'm gonna have to look into some of his stuff after this. This is only my first impression based off of one listen, so I may think a bit differently after a couple of listens. Anyway, it seems like this was made to either be listened to in your car or played at a party. I think it would work great in either situation. There are a lot of big name guests on here like Bushwick Bill, Killer Mike, Devin The Dude, Chamillionaire, and Z-Ro. I like a bit more than half of the tracks. The production is pretty good throughout but some tracks either have lame choruses or not very memorable rapping. The standouts for me are Laid Back (cool instrumental), Gettin High, Actin Bad, Less Than 3 Remix, and Trunk Got The Beat. I'm not a fan of tracks like Around The World and Call Me, they have a bit too much R&B in them for my taste. Right now, I'd give this 3.5-3.75. Not bad at all.

Just messing but I get your point. I'll let someone else start this bad boy up. You mean someone else to ask SRP? He already asked me so he would be the next to ask... Also just to clarify you are asking the person to review something that person has not reviewed yet. So although you have reviewed all of Cyne's albums, that person may not have. It's more about seeing what other people think about what you like/dislike and just having convos about hip hop...although if you ask me to review something from a different genre I will do that too, can't speak for SRP (the only dude besides myself actually participating right now). Also, there isn't a rush to write the review, just try to have it done within a reasonable time frame. SRP carpet bombed this thread haha but once a third person requests/reviews it should become a bit more orderly.

Thanks man, hopefully someone else jumps in and asks SRP to review something. That's what new participants should do by the way, start off by asking someone else to review something, then someone later on will ask them, etc.

| Ok, FINALLY finished that Game mixtape. SRP please rec me something you've heard before next time haha. Nothing at all jumped out at me on this tape. It's not that I don't like The Game, cuz I do, but most of the songs sounded like typical generic radio tracks. I guess I'll give it a 2... | |

REVIEW! THAT! ALBUM!!! So do you want to play? yeah i'll play. what should i review? Ok here's what happened so far I started off by asking for something to review SRP replied I replied with my review Then SRP also asked gametheory91 to review something gametheory91 asked SRP to review something gametheory91 replied with SRP's requested review It kinda went out of order a bit....but yeah when you first start, you should ask someone in the thread who is participating to review something, and then the next person will ask you to review something. So I guess you could ask me or gametheory to review something and then we can kinda restart and try to keep it more orderly (to avoid 2 people just asking each other back and forth) Thanks for joining in!

Yeah, and I responded with my review. It's just that you and gametheory basically asked each other...so the order got messed up. And when I posted that Terry wasn't in the thread yet. I'm basically trying to start a new sequence. So I guess you could ask lundquist to review something, then Terry could ask you to review something, and gametheory could ask T to review something. But yeah you can review more than once in the thread, just need another person to review before you review again.

Hey man I promise that I'll listen to whatever you ask me to review in here, regardless of genre even. I'm pretty sure everyone else in here will too. You may not like Lil Wayne but its not impossible to have a change of heart. I'm not a Wayne fan either but I have heard some pretty entertaining stuff from him. As SRP mentioned one of the ideas behind this thread is to get people to check stuff they haven't heard of, or stuff that may surprise them. I'm not saying you will like the Wayne, but if you give it a try, people will reciprocate when you rec them stuff. It's all about the music son!

just in case, Half, review Dom Kennedy's - II: From the Westside With Love Not sure what to feel about this album to be honest. Some tracks have good beats, and then some have boring beats. Sometimes Dom's rapping will be funny and entertaining, and other times it will be forgettable. The album seems to aim for a chill, laid back vibe and in that respect it works pretty well. It's pretty relaxing, and for some listeners this will be exactly what they want. I need a bit more from what I listen to though. Big K.R.I.T. did pretty well with his performance as a guest but I didn't find any of the other guest performances memorable. At the same time though, I did feel good while listening to the majority of this, even if a lot of if went in one ear and out the other. I guess if you put a gun to my head and asked me to rate it, I'd give it 3 stars. Some good times, some boring times, but nothing on the album is really awful. I'm sure if I was in a different mood I would like this more, I'm just stone cold sober right now though.

| Da UnderDawgz - The 1st One Is for Pimp - 2.75/5*
Not a very good tape. I don't know who Da Underdawgz are or how many of them there are, but every song sounds like it has a few different dudes doing poor Pimp C (or Bun B) impersonations. The production is all cliche-ly southern: over-synthed and annoying. Also, it bothered me that some of the 'features' were just samples of the artist that was supposedly on the track. There are a few of nice tracks on here, though, mainly "MOB" featuring Z-Ro & "Mic Check" featuring Chamillionaire.
