West Coast Grps

I was just thinking how lack the west coast is when it comes to big name grps. They haven't had a big grp on the west since NWA. I'm not talkin about grps from that NWA fam tree either.

Why is that?

I am not saying there have not been any talented grps. Just are there any west coast grps that made big impacts on the game and culture in your opinion.

Hmmm/// I'd say Heiro and Freestyle Fellowship, but that's more on the underground scene; not sure if you mean on a larger scale

Honestly not really sure what your definition of "impact" may be. Most of the those groups certainly sold as well as anyone else during their run and had impact at the time. Not sure what you're looking for. Overall, I think the group dynamic has/is dead in the game.

Wouldn't say the Click. No where even near as popular as NWA. DPG are from that NWA fam tree so they don't count.

CMW is a close one.

Look at it like this. On the east u had Run DMC, PE, Kid N Play, BDP, Mobb Deep, NBN, & some more that made big noise with out a the benefit of coming from an already popular fam tree.

The south u got Geto Boys, 2 Live Crew, Goodie, Kast, & that may be it.

Well scratch Goodie because they came from an already set fam free.

I mean when most people think of west coast grps they always think NWA first. Its not like that with the east and south. NWA sold millions of records.

Well then you have to cut out anyone that came from the native tongues... group home came from the gang starr foundation...run dmc, bdp, and PE all came pre or at the same time as NWA so I wouldn't compare them to those people who came after NWA either.
