Fuck what you said Tranny....there isn't a "BUNCH OF DOPENESS" that has dropped after 2000...stop lying, there has been some select bangers but if you really think that the post 2000 era can fuck with the 80's and 90's then you need some brand new ears A.S.A.P.
anyway some personal classics for me (2000-) include:
Ghostface-Supreme Clientele A.G./O.C.-Oasis (one word...DOPE) Buckshot/9th Wonder-The Formula Showbiz/A.G.-Mugshot Music (this shit is straight ridiculous) Little Brother-The Minstrel Show Little Brother-Chitlin Circuit 1.5. Nas-Untitled Nas-Life Is Good (I know it just dropped but it's already at personal classic status for me mayne) Nas-Lost Tapes Nas-Stillmatic Blu & Exile-Below The Heavens Kanye West-Late Registration Kanye West-College Dropout M.O.P.-Warriorz De La Soul-The Grind Date Common-Finding Forever Jay-Z-American Gangster Q-Tip-The Renaissance Hall Of Justus-Soldiers Of Fortune Jean Grae-Jeanius Jean Grae/Blue Sky Black Death-The Evil Jeanius
I'm pretty sure there is a few more that I forgot to mention but I think this covers most of the ones that I consider PERSONAL CLASSICS (2000-)
the one thing I've noticed about (2000-) hip-hop is that there is alot of quality hip-hop music but mainly of the 4 stars or slightly better variety IN MY OPINION but not the consistent 5 star plus bangers of pre 2000 (especially from 1984-1996)...that period of hip-hop will NEVER EVER be duplicated ever again IN MY OPINION!

I think that post 2000 has a shit load of classics but the concentration of classics is much less because many more albums are dropped each year now. Artists used to take their time to craft gems, now it seems like its hit or miss more often than not.
Anyway, I agree with a lot of these picks but to name a few unmentioned...
Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons... Brother Ali - Us Evidence - Cats and Dogs Xzibit - Restless Snoop Dogg - Tha Last Meal Alchemist - 1st Infantry Outkast - Stankonia Three 6 Mafia - When The Smoke Clears Project Pat - Mista Don't Play Phonte - Charity Starts At Home

As for those acts you listed: half are irrelevant, and half released their best stuff in the 90's.

Trophies for me is the AOTY of 2012.....and with it being such a weak ass year IMO, it puts it even more miles ahead of the "competition"

LMAO. Powell I know the 80's was your era but come on man. Most of those grps were not even considered that good back then. Most were novelty acts that made one or two good songs. There are plenty of post 2000 artist way better than most of them. Pioneer does not automatically equal eternal greatness.

Of the groups I mentioned that I said originated in the 1980's I only count 2 of them (Gangstarr and A Tribe Called Quest) as being the ones who hadn't hit their stride in the 80's yet and really capitalized in the 90's.....but they started in the 80's though...everyone else on that list had already released high quality hip-hop music in the 80's...do your damn homework my dudes and learn and then talk......go and read those names again and those are only a few groups that I'm mentioning but I've got more....lol

Whodini Sugarhill Gang (one hit wonder) Audio Two Superlover Cee and Casanova Rud Wreckx-N-Effect Finesse and Synquis Salt-N-Pepa (lol) Sequence The Treacherous Three Dr.Jeckyl and Mr.Hyde The Crash Crew Funky Four Plus One Soul Sonic Force Jungle Bros
Those are the irrelevant groups, and many others were just pioneers, and did not advance the art form, though some did help put it on the map.
Plus, who cares if they originated in the 20's? We are talking about music releases, and anyone on that list worth a damn had their best in the 80's. The 90's dominate both decades, and the 80's is nothing objectively compared to today (best as you can compare a subjective art form).
Tons of your favorites doing it well still today!

That will not really mean a thing to you. I grew up in the 80's but I was still a young teenager in the 90's. Most of those artisit outside of the NY area were not major factors. The 90's is the best decade fairly easily and the 80's laid the foundation for the great 90's. I'll never deny that. But to truly think that its that many artist from the 80's that top these post 2000 artist is a real warped view. Now 80's mainstream rap was waaay better than most of post 2000 rap. I can see that. But if you mean 80's vs. 2000 overall than I have to go with the 2000 overall.

Yo...did anyone else see who white ass Steve called irrelevant??
The Sugarhill Gang is irrelevant? Soul Sonic Force (Afrika Bambaataa) is irrelevant? The Treacherous Three is irrelevant? Funky Four Plus One?? Salt-N-Pepa? The Jungle Bros? Sequence? The Crash Crew? Whodini?
I let the others slide but just by you mentioning those acts listed there you get a HUGE
as a matter of fact let's add in another one just for safekeeping
your hip-hop knowledge about the old school is extremely limited white steve...just like your knowledge of the black race......you're getting one more

Kev didn't you graduate from HS in the 90's??
so what's with all this "I was a young teenager shit"??? my dude you were at least 18 at some point in the 90's....you aren't far behind me mayne and I was in my twenties throughout the entire 90's and actually 19 in 1990...so kill the noise Kevin...lol
stop acting like your only 12 in 2012 mayne.....the reason your knowledge on 80's hip-hop is limited even though you're old enough is because you didn't have access to cable television...you've already admitted this before...care to change your story now???
the hip-hop order of things in my opinion is 90's>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>80's>>>>>>>>>>>>>2000's
when the 2000's can lay claim to a Nations Of Millions....or a Strictly Business or a Raising Hell or a Radio or a Straight Outta Compton then it can talk but until then I hear crickets mayne...lol

2000's has so much more releases than 80's. So im pretty sure that 2000's also has more good albums. But from what I've heard, I might like 80's more.
It's easy to name horrible albums from 2000's. I dont think I can even name 10 bad rap albums from 80's. 1988, 1989 are easily better than any years from 2000's.

Here we go again...
The 80s deserves RESPECT. MAD RESPECT. Pioneering the game will always deserve respect.
BUT...
It was BASIC AS FUCK!!!
Simple ass beats. Simple ass lyrics. Other than Rakim, Kane, PE, BDP, G Rap, Ultramag, and and MAYBE a handful of others, 80s shit sounds like preschool. The 90s clicked as the moment in time when everything was just perfect. They ran with the foundation of the 80s and they turned the game into a billion dollar industry just before shit got sour and the media started gaying everything up. But the 2000's BY FAR has the greatest talent and production is better than ever. Even the artists that are still around from back in the day sound waaay better nowadays. It's because shit evolves. Apple II E's got replaced by iPads and Macbooks.
The only thing that fucks everything up in the game today is the mainstream. There used to be CLASSIC material on the radio and TV and now that type of shit takes a back seat to flashy and faggy. Dre Day got replaced by I'm Gay...smh.

@Wandy.......the principle order of things even with the "basicness" is 90's>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>80's>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2000's (dead last)

you really believe that statement??
KRS sounds better than ever now??
Chuck D sounds better than ever now??
LL Cool J sounds better than ever now??
Rakim sounds better than ever now??
Jay-Z sounds better than ever now???
I could go on and on but first I'm wondering if you're 100% sure about that statement you just typed?? because honestly it sounds kinda crazy mayne.....lol..like maybe you don't really know or understand what you're saying??? don't forget that albums from the 2000's list for me by the way....your TOP 10 hip-hop albums from the 00's (the best produced, the best lyrics) because the talent level is "through the roof" (at least according to you it is)

The Blueprint (Jay-Z's best album) Stillmatic (Nas' best album) Marshall Mathers LP (Not like you'd ever get it a serious listen) Supreme Clientelle (GFK's best album) Stankonia (Outkast's best album) Deltron 3030 (Del tha Funkee Homosapien's best album) Let's Get Free (Best black power/liberate the people album since early Chuck D) The Realness (Cormega's best album ever) The Listening (In 1992 it would have been platinum) GRODT (Would have sold 25 mil in 1993) College Dropout Hell Hath No Fury (Would make Kool G proud) Below the Heavens (Another album that would have dominated in 1993)
Those are just albums you may have heard. There are countless other underground albums you will never give a chance to. I guess you think Jim Thorpe is the fastest of all time huh? Maybe Carl Lewis? Maybe George Mikan is the best center? Or Joe Jackson is the best hitter? Coming first doesn't mean best.
1980's were basic in every sense of the word. Any new artform is basic. But you can't admit that. Have a great day.

The 80's laid the foundation. And it was the first rap music that the world heard. So it will always have its place. The 2000's have the 80's beat lyrically and style wise fairly easily. Only things the 80's have over the 2000's music wise is more known classic albums and songs. Most of the 2000 classic albums are more spread out and did not get attention on the mainstream like those albums in the 80's did. Also singles became formulated and generic in the 2000's and cannot compete with the all time classic of the 80's.
