Hurry Up This Way Again is one of my favorite slow jams. Good choice Powell.

I don't listen lots of R&B, soul, funk because I prefer some other genres so I dont really have time. But I have some albums from Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Ben E. King, James Brown, Kool and the Gang, Ohio Players, Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers, The Gap Band. I listen those sometimes.

Roger Troutman and ZAPP>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The Stylistics
go do your homework and see what I mean.....lol
both of 'em are innovative groups but Roger was the SHIT!
ive actually never peeped any of his albums. Where do you recommend starting. I'm more of a Motown/Soul fan (The Spinners being one of my favorites) when it comes to this genre of music but I also like funk. I'll give everything a shot. The only thing I don't like is the new school r&b dating back to the 90's.

You could start with Zapp & Roger-All The Greatest Hits because that includes all of his and the bands most known works but IMO also include:
Roger Troutman-Unlimited (his best solo effort IMO) Zapp-Zapp Zapp-Zapp II
like B.Shaw said the track listing on some of those projects is like 6 cuts but Roger and crew made everyone of 'em count...lol, it's hard funk/r&b music.....Roger pretty much originated the talkbox which was later made complete by Teddy Riley IMO......those 2 were the best to use it......
@ B.Shaw-Billy Ocean was the SHIT- good pick my dude and Hi-Five dropped a bunch of really good r&b music in the 90's, I think the lead singer in the group passed (R.I.P.) but they were a killer group when in their prime...good shit!

Classic R&B huh? You know Tran the Man has got this on lock! lol
Here's three videos for now...don't want to go overboard.
Rizzo...classic track.
Damn, Sam Salter was truly underrated. "It's On Tonight" is great album, too bad it didn't blow up like it should have.
