| Yeah, I agree with most of them up until the most recent decade, but given their criteria it's kind of hard to argue with some of them (though '05, '09 & '12) are especially wack). Skills clearly weren't a very heavily weighted attribute here. | |

| I stopped reading at 2003. There just going by who's the most popular for that year. Now I understand you must take in radio hits in account but this list could have been compiled by someone who doesn't even listen to rap and is using sales data. No reason Drake should be on there twice. | |

| OKAY, I read the list all the way though and it was straight trash. They got LL COOL J for 85 right. But NAS the most popular in 94'? Illmatic was a sleeper hit that year, that album didn't pick up until Nas got big after It Was Written. BIGGIE was waaay more popular that year due to album sales. I would say Method Man was more popular than Nas that year.
Also how can they say Q-Tip was the most popular rapper of 91? I'd say ATCQ as a group but Ice-T had 91 on lockdown with the smash NEW JACK HUSTLER, his stellar album OG, and the fact he was in the movie New Jack City.

| It's for the year, so unless someone released an album that year, then yeah, they don't belong on the list.
That said, Kendrick Lamar is way overhyped by the Dre team man.
Years which they made terrible selections in my opinion; 1991 1994 (not terrible, I just disagree) 1995 (Also disagree strongly) 2004 (Ehh, I'd have gone Kanye over him) 2005 Definitely awful. I'd have gonze GZA > Common > Kanye probably 2006 Shoulda Lupe, Ghost, or Roots 2007 Shoulda been Blu, Monch, or Lupe again 2008 TERRIBLE. Immortal Technique, Masta Ace via eMc, but most of all Nas shoulda won 2009 Eminem or Raekwon is the only acceptable answer 2010 Not a bad choice. I woulda gone with Big Boi, Eminem, Bun B, Ross or Krit over Kanye, 2011 Rae, Phonte, Game, Wale, J. Cole, Common, Krit, Jayz/Kanye, etc. all better. Best was Tech N9ne or Cunninlynguists 2012 Nas, O.C., Killer Mike all better. Best probably to Nas.

| this was pretty interesting material...the 2000's were a disgrace, especially when you've got Drake listed more then once, Weezy listed more then once and even Jeezy thrown on there to boot...it just proves what I've been saying from day one...the post 2000's era has been hot shit in a toilet bowl...you can see the steady decline even right here on this little list......lol | |
