| 10-15 yrs from now what ten post 2000 rappers/grps do you think will still be talked up highly and mentioned with the greats or goods?
I thought about this because i'm 33 and everytime I talk to someone in my age range about rap music there is always this instant spark in their eyes and excitment on the topic. I can just mention a name like "Chubb Rock" for example and we are dapping each other and just trippin on how much we use to luv it. So I wonder who from this post 2000 generation will be discussed the same. |

it's sad yes, but it's also true C'mon Powell. I know that post-2000 hip-hop isn't as dope as the Golden Ages. But you honestly can't say that nobody that's rhymed post 2000 is gonna be any good in the future. That's insane to say. I see these kids making an impact as far as QUALITY is concerned. Not sales or marketability (although that could happen too) but definitely quality. Eminem (even though he debuted in 99, he's still thought of as a 2000 MC). Ludacris Lupe Fiasco (I don't care what people in this forum think, I feel that the man's got skills and both his albums are at least 4 star quality) Kanye West (If he goes back to rapping and stops that auto-tune shit, he'll be a heavy hitter for years to come) T.I. One Be Lo Joe Budden Crooked I (not sure when he debuted, but he's yet to drop a solo album so I put him in this catagory) Corey Gunz Little Brother (these guys are still good even without 9th Wonder) Vakill Beanie Sigel Nipsey Hu$$le And fuck everybody that's called Nas a sellout. He's still got deeper subject matter than 95% or better of the rap game.

KJ did you understand the thread? Kev, you're asking me for PREDICTIONS so I'm giving them to you. YES I understood the thread!! Are you Nostradamus or something? Otherwise, how can you say that the MC's I mentioned aren't gonna be good in the future??? I've liked what I've heard from Gunz and Hussle so far. And I've heard you big up Slaughterhouse so how could you not say that Budden and Crooked I aren't gonna be dope. They already are dope IMO. I would have gone with Royce but he debuted before 2000 (I didn't like him much at first, but he spit fire on that album) and I'm not completely sure about Ortiz (at least as a solo artist). The point of the thread was to list my PERSONAL OPINIONS on who will blow up in the future. If you disagree with me then that's fine, but you cannot tell me that I didn't follow the point of the thread or give an honest response. |

I mentioned Budden. He's the biggest star in Slaughterhouse and has the best solo discog so he's only gonna blow up more. And the Lox debuted in 1997, so they don't qualify. |

I mean, what does post-2000 mean? I see what you mean. But I think people will talk about MF DOOM and El-P's solo output as some of the best of 2000, and view them as post-2000 artists in a sense. Not to mention I had a hard time thinking of great post-2000 artists. Good call on cunninlynguists though, I'll edit out El-P and put them in instead.

| I would definitely consider Atmosphere post-2000. They will certainly carry a legacy with a huge fanbase. Same for Tech N9ne and JMT.
Apathy and Celph have potential, so does Vakill.
Nappy Roots - even if they flop out, their first album will be a classic to a lot of people.

Personally, I don't see much of a difference. Now he just sounds like he's got a mouth full of cotton when he rhymes. Whereas he just sounded a bit clearer on the KMD material. Still not much difference IMO.
