It's defintiely a top 50 album to me, but i'm not sure it's in my personal top 25.

Well, every song on it is amazing and it's lyricism and production are among the best ever.

Illmatic is every bit as dope as 36 Chambers or Nations Of Millions...two albums that I know won't get any neither votes.

Who knows, but Nations of Millions is objectively the best hip-hop album fo all-time, and 36 Chambers the most ground-breaking.

Well objectively as a fan I subjectively do not spin this album as much as probably 300 or more other albums...

Leave up to the rest of the hip-hop nation and you'd be surprised how many different #1 GOAT ALL TIME ALBUMS you'd find.

Illmatic is 9 tracks of dopeness, but i like a lot of other 5 star albums more. If an album is 5 stars, wouldn't personal preference be the deciding factor on where the album ranks? I'm not sure why people have to feel obligated to include Illmatic in a top 10. How can someone be wrong for liking another 5 star album more?

Why don't you go and look up web polls of all time great rap albums. You'll find Illmatic in ALL of them. I haven't seen it outside of the Top 10 in any of them.

I never said all that Terry.

Not having it in your Top 10 is fine because like you said, there are a lot of 5 star albums.

But not having it in your Top 100 is crazy IMO.

Steve would say the same if someone voted neither on Me Against The World, as would Clancey if someone voted against an album like say, ATLiens or Ridin Dirty.

I was just giving you a good natured ribbing Alan - nothing more.

I understand that you think it's crazy, but we all know that there are more than 100 5 star albums, and that's not even counting personal classics that could rank higher too. One of the biggest things that i wish you and Powell would realize is that no one is trying to disrespect Illmatic. We just don't personally feel it the way others do.
