| I don't actaully own this album. I only own her greatest hits, but i think i've heard most of these tracks. So I'm gonna go with neither on this one. My lack of love for female mc's is well documented, but this is just a case where i happen to like at least 100 albums more than this. There's no hate involved here. I did vote for her as a top 100 mc though. | |

| this a top 100 album of all-time EASILY....of course the dislike for female emcees on here is why it isn't being voted on as one of the best...Tranny MC Lyte would literally KILL your boy from Blue Scholars in a battle man.....EASILY...she was no joke! | |

| This is a Top 75 album. There's not a wack song on this album.
I co-sign everything Powell said above. Anybody who has heard this album and votes neither is only doing so because of bias against female rappers. And those who haven't heard it should download it sometime. It's truly a classic.
Next to Queen Latifah's debut, this is my 2nd favorite album by a female MC. |

I'm saying that if she were a male, this album would likely get voted onto the list because she's CLEARLY a great MC. |

Is it possible to like 100 albums more than this album? If not, that's laughable. If so, are you saying it's ok to like 100 albums more as long as you're a fan of female mc's? I'm not sure your point has any merit to it.

Sure it's possible, but in this forum that's 100% irrelevant because you and most others here have stated that y'all don't like female MC's so y'all are gonna vote neither regardless. Even if y'all haven't heard the album which you just admitted above. BTW, the Greatest Hits album only has 4 songs from this album on it. |

BTW, the Greatest Hits album only has 4 songs from this album on it. You have a problem with presumtions. First you presume, that everyone who likes female mc's will have this album in their top 100, and that is just not true. Secondly, you presume i dislike female mc's. I don't dislike them. I'm just not a big fan. That's like you saying i hate jazzy type of rap just because it's not my favorite sub genre. Thirdly, you presume the only MC Lyte songs i have heard are contained on her greatest hits, but that is also false.

No I don't, I just have a problem with bias and you know damn well that most in here dislike female MC's. You're clearly in denial if you say otherwise. - Quote :
- First you presume, that everyone who likes female mc's will have this album in their top 100, and that is just not true.
The vast majority would. I'd say at least 80%. When people are asked to name the best female MC albums of all time, this will be at or near the top of everyone's list. I've seen this album along with All Hail The Queen, A Salt With A Deadly Pepa, Black's Magic, and The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill on many GOAT lists. - Quote :
- Secondly, you presume i dislike female mc's. I don't dislike them. I'm just not a big fan.
So basically you're saying that you don't hate them, you just don't care to listen to them. It's whatever. You shouldn't have voted on this album if you haven't heard it in it's entirety. Everyone else who voted neither did the same. - Quote :
- That's like you saying i hate jazzy type of rap just because it's not my favorite sub genre. Thirdly, you presume the only MC Lyte songs i have heard are contained on her greatest hits, but that is also false.
I never said any of that, so stop putting words in my mouth. All I'm saying is that when it comes to female rappers, it's been proven time and time again in this forum that most aren't objective about them. Lyte is easily one of the greatest rappers of all time regardless of her gender. If she was able to hang with MC's from back then, she could have EASILY slayed most post 2000 MC's in her prime. I'm willing to bet that she can now as well. |

What am I "not getting"?? I already answered your question. Yes it is possible for someone who likes female MC's to not have this album in their Top 100. However, most people that DO like female MC's WILL have this in their Top 100. What you're "not getting" is that the majority of the people in here dislike female rappers. The fact that MC Lyte was the ONLY female to make the Top 100 is clear evidence of that. And the fact that this album has 6 neither votes is FURTHER evidence of that fact therefore whenever a female artist/album is nominated most vote neither regardless of whether they've given the artist/album an honest listen or not. And that my friend, is clear bias. That's all I'm saying on the subject. Interpret it any way you want. |

| once again, you presume only someone with a bias against females would vote neither, but then you say it's possible for 20% to like 100 albums more without being bias. How do you know which case is actually true here. This why you still don't get it. | |

If more people in here liked female rappers and still felt that this wasn't a Top 100 album, your argument would have merit. But they don't, so it doesn't. |

I never attacked him. When I said my initial statement, I was talking to the ENTIRE FORUM not just Terry. It's just that Terry decided to respond to me. And if you would have read correctly Jeff, you would have saw that he never even heard this album in it's entirety. Read before you assume. |

| I don't speak for anyone else KJ. I speak for myself, and you included me in your generalization. Not liking female mc's is not something to be disgusted by. it's merely a preference. For instance, would you attack someone for not including Midnight Marauders in their top 100? Would you tell them their bias against Jazz rap is disgusting? To me there is no difference compared to what you are doing now. | |

LAME argument indeed. While I like Acey, there are more West Coast and abstract hip-hop albums I'd rank ahead of it. Whereas I doubt you have any female rap albums in your Top 100. Nor does anyone else on this forum besides myself, Powell, Pounds, and maybe Kev. That's the point I was trying to make all along. |

I remember the Top 100 when a bunch of people were saying that shit, as well as the Amazon forums. Name names or keep quiet. SRP and myself are the only ones who you've named that are probably correct. Also would you bitch and moan if someone voted against Midnight Marauders cause they don't like Jazz rap very much? Tell me how that's any different than not liking female mc's? When will you get it through your thick ass skull that the reason for the neither votes are because most people don't like female rappers. The fact that MC Lyte was the only female rapper to make the Top 100, yet this album doesn't make the Top 100 albums is clear evidence of that fact. If that doesn't prove anything to you then you're delusional. As for Midnight Marauders, personally I like The Low End Theory better but Midnight Marauders would make my Top 25 as well. I don't see many people voting against either album though. And those who do vote against them probably don't like jazz rap. ATCQ's first three albums are easily classics and worthy of being on the list. |

| I dig female rappers, and MC Lyte may be my favorite female rapper....this being my favorite album of hers. That said, I guess I don't like her enough to put this in my top 100, though it's plenty worthy of it. It would make my top 150-200. It's a 5-star album IMO though. | |

You contradicted yourself there Pounds....you said she may be your fav rapper, yet you don't like her enough to put this in your Top 100. That doesn't add up dude. It's fine if you don't feel it's Top 100, but that statement is a contradiction. Just saying..... |

| the thing is, there may be 100 albums that i personally listen to/dig more than this BUT this album is easily more worthy of being in a top 100 albums of all time list than some of those, thats why i think this album has to be included | |

You don't even deserve to be part of this discussion Tran. You prove my point that most in here don't like female rappers. So from my count, 6 in here including myself like female rappers, and only two of them voted neither on this album. |

Women don't speak for me though, which is why they probably don't personally connect with me quite enough to make my top 100. Lauryn Hill may actually. You check out that new Tiye Phoenix from this year? "Half Woman Half Amazin'"? Me and Kev have been making some noise about it, but nobody is listening. I got it at 4.25-4.5 stars personally. In my top 10 for the year. I like her more than Jean Grae personally. You should check it out.

I get into the personal/reality lyrics of an emcee, and females just don't speak my personal reality (women rep women at their core), so I tend to connect with male songwriters more. That doesn't make sense to you? Like the 50 Cent song, the lyrics/meaning of a song means more to be than just a banger.

I understand the personal reality part, but I simply judge albums on overall dopeness. And I don't see 100 albums doper than Lyte As A Rock personally. Other female albums that would make my Top 100 are All Hail The Queen, The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill, Hot, Cool, & Vicious, and Black's Magic. There might be more, but those are slam dunks. |
