Very close. Most days it would be Mobb Deep. But since I haven't spun that in a while, this goes to Spice 1. His best album IMO.
Goodie Mob- Still Standing vs. Alkaholiks- 21 & Over
LOL - man. Tough again. Alkaholiks by a very slim margin. Personal classic.
Das EFX- Dead Serious vs. UGK- Super Tight
UGK, but not by much.
Geto Boys- Da Foundation vs. Nas- Hip Hop Is Dead
I dig the Nas more.
Master P- Ice Cream Man vs. Masta Ace- Long Hot Summer
Haven't heard the Master P record, but that's my #2 favorite from Ace.
Common- Finding Forever vs. Ice Cube- Laugh Now Cry Later
Haven't heard the Cube, but the Common was pretty forgettable IMO.
Blackalicious- The Craft vs. Kanye West- Graduation
The Craft. I don't spin it that much, but "Graduation" was more forgettable than Common's album IMO.
The Game- L.A.X. vs. T.I.- Paper Trail
All I heard was LAX. It was pretty good. I've been meaning to check the T.I.
Lupe Fiasco- The Cool vs. Jay-Z- American Gangster
Probably the Lupe. Neither thrilled me though. American Gangster had nice production, but I've heard Jay rhyme better.
Ice-T- O.G. vs. KRS-One- Return Of The Boom Bap
Close, but the mothaphuckin' Original Gangster gets this one.
2Pac- All Eyes On Me vs. Biggie- Life After Death
Life After Death for sure. I like most of Pac's other records more.
Scarface- The Untouchable vs. CMW- Music To Drive By
Both are solid, but the Scarface is a bit better I think. I haven't listened to either enough to confidently pick though.

Hell On Earth wins. 187 is dope but Hell On Earth is a personal (and some would say consensus) classic.

Dead Serious wins, both albums are classics but I dig Das EFX's debut a bit more.

These were my 2 favorite albums of 2007, close call but The Cool comes out on top.
Ice-T- O.G. vs. KRS-One- Return Of The Boom Bap
Damn, as much as I love KRS I gotta go with Ice T on this one. O.G. was a classic whereas Boom Bap was 4.5 stars IMO.
2Pac- All Eyes On Me vs. Biggie- Life After Death
Life After Death wins. All Eyez On Me was good but vastly overrated IMO.
Scarface- The Untouchable vs. CMW- Music To Drive By
The Untouchable wins, I'm not a CMW fan.
Royce Da 5'9- Death Is Certain vs. Ludacris- Theater Of The Mind
I'm not a big Royce fan so I haven't heard Death Is Certain in it's entirety hence I can't fairly vote on this one. Theater Of The Mind is dope though. |
