Royce da 5'9"- Street Hop

Alright, here goes the review (I'll try not to be too biased... lol):

I wasn't really expecting this album to be anything great, just a nice 4 star album from Royce. Boy, was I wrong. I got this one sitting over 4.5 stars after five spins. To me, this is Royce's best lyrical album to date; no wasted verses at all. The story telling tracks are all on point, and song like Soldier, New Money, Mine In Thiz, and Street Hop 2010 are some of the best lyrical displays of the year. The production is easily in the top 5 of the year (though I though 6 July would have more than 1 track). Emile, Frequency, and STREETRUNNER, are really showing me why they are a few of the best in the game right now. Not to mention, the three Primo tracks are some of his best in recent years. The guests all bring their A game, too. Crooked I (as always) drops an insane verse on Gun Harmonizing, Busta comes more than correct on Dinner Time, Phonte's singing is great on the Primo track, Something 2 Ride 2, and even Kid Vishis shows up on Solider. The skit in the middle of the album is pretty annoying, and Thing For Your Girlfriend might get skipped in the future, but no other song is short of great. If you haven't heard this yet, I highly recommend checking it out. Even Kool John gives it a 4.5, and we all know his take on Royce... lol.

Standouts include: Gun Harmonizing (personal favorite), Soldier, Something 2 Ride 2 (second favorite) New Money (3rd in line), Mine In Thiz, Shake This, Street Hop 2010, On The Run, and Part OF Me

Definitely a 4.75 album, probably will be considered a classic by Royce fans if it holds up in the next year or so. Dope shizzle, to be sure. My personal favorite is definitely "Gangsta" though.

Every song is basically a standout, lol. This is my AOTY as of now... I hope he gets mainstream single off of this album... there's a bunch that could be used

He debuted at #111. No way he gets any mainstream rec off of this. But he's talkin to Em again so that's something.

Yeah, I heard about the #111 thing... oh well.

New Money is now my favorite.

I'm bumping this now and I gotta say - I mean it's typical Royce which I like, but I think the Royce stans are way overrating this... got it around 3.5 stars right now...

How can he do much better than #111 if nobody sells his album. I've looked for it everywhere so i wouldn't have to order and wait on it and nobody has it.

I dusted this one off today and it still stands at a solid 4.5 IMO.

I'm not a Royce stan at all but I really enjoy this album. I've got it at 4.25 stars, the production is bangin.

I got it at 4-4.25 also.

I have this one at 4.5 stars. Very good album from Royce.
