| while i don't share SRP's sentiments exactly, I do think the song is slightly overrated. However, I don't think there are 100 singles better. Top 100 for me. | |

Agreed. I've always thought the beat was overrated, and Premier's my favorite producer.

| I love the lyrics to the song personally, and people that criticize the beat need to understand that it goes perfectly with the name of the song (Come Clean) and the video.
There are a couple of Jeru songs I like better, but Come Clean was the song that put Jeru on the map. If it weren't for this song, he wouldn't have become even the minor star that he was. |

| Some people forget that, up until that point, this was a very, very innovative beat....
Chronologically speaking, Premo hadn't laced anything that creative up until that point. Sure, he had some classics out there, but this one was different.

The guy had a signature sound that was tops in the east for the better part of a decade. That much is pretty much a given. I'm saying that "Come Clean" was one of his most creative or innovative at that particular point. You won't find 3 beats that sound like that from him before it came out.

I totally agree, and I feel that the beat is still innovative because it fit perfectly with the name of the song, and the video with the raindrops/leaky pipes. The Onyx sample was the PERFECT touch for the hook too. On an unrelated note....it was NICE to see Tim Tebow get SERVED!!! |

| I know you are just trying to make a point KJ - but the beat fits the video perfectly - because they made the fucking video with the fucking beat in mind. It's an innovative beat for its time but it had not aged well IMO.
I'm not a big Jeru fan because his style is rather bland to me, but I'll take Ya Playing Yourself over this track easily... |

| Different Strokes for Different Folks I guess, the only Jeru tracks I'd put over this are Can't Stop The Prophet (remix) and Mental Stamina. |
