| Illmatic barely and I mean barely pulled a tight one out. No slacking on Ill's ass today either so I hope it has its combat boots on. |

| I can't choose between the 3. I want to go with E 1999 but Liquid Swords may be the best of the 3. |

| I wanted to go with "E.99" too KRob because it's a personal classic to me. However when i thought about it objectively both "Liqud Swords" and "Illmatic" are reallly the better albums. | |

| Liquid Swords. My 3rd favorite album of all time. GZA, and really the whole clan, was killin it lyrically. And IMO it's RZA's best production on any Wu album. | |

On this forum I guess not huh GZA??? I'm not surprised though..for the record Liquid Swordz is a great album as well but no where near Illmatic IN MY OPINION....I've been thinking about it and either Illmatic or Midnight Marauders is my own personal top album of the 90's....I haven't been able to make my mind between the two of them yet!

Liquid Swords is an excellent album, it's in my Top 20 but I agree that Illmatic is better. My 3 fav albums of all time came from this era (Illmatic, The Low End Theory, Ready To Die) |

Well there are a lot of albums that many can make the case for being the GOAT, and Illmatic is one of those albums. I still hear many people call it the best, or at least among the best. So that's all that matters. |

| There nothing specifically that you can point to and fairly say that Illmatic is better than Liquid Swords. If you look at it from a technical standpoint, everything on Liquid Swords is done more skillfully. It will always have to come back to personal preference/nostalgia/opinion/etc...
I just spun Illmatic in the truck and Liquid Swords when I got in. In my opinion Liquid Swords is beyond anything Nas has ever released.
And this is coming from a Nas fan (own every album)...
Co-Sign Taylor too...E.99 is a personal classic for me as well.

Co-Sign Taylor too...E.99 is a personal classic for me as well. About the only thing I'll agree with you on is that it all comes down to personal preference. I think that Nas is a more complete MC than GZA. I love both albums, but I like the punchlines and street tales on Illmatic better than the dark, grimy tales on Liquid Swords. |

| Whether Nas is more complete isn't the question...
The production was far more original and creative on Liquid Swords. I'm not saying Illmatic isn't good. I'm saying that anything you praise Illmatic for having is also present on Liquid Swords. Thing is, Liquid Swords has everything Illmatic has and then some. Better guest spots, better beats....it was a raw album.
Again, there's nothing specific that can be pointed to on Illmatic that makes it better. Just as good, maybe. Not better, though...

The only guest appearance on Illmatic was AZ, and I thought he was just as dope as any of Wu was on Liquid Swords. Everything else you said was simply your opinion. I respect it, but I disagree. |

Norf we can't completely listen to your opinion on Liquid Swords mainly because you love almost anything that RZA does man...you've said many times that he's your number one hip-hop producer of all-time (not that there is anything wrong with that, I mean he is in my top ten) but in my opinion I think it's affecting your judgement, but then again fuck it it's all opinion driven anyway, so no big deal In my opinion as much as I love Liquid Swords there is nothing on that album that fuck with Represent, New York State Of Mind and The World Is Yours...again in my opinion those three joints are my favorites off of Illmatic and nothing IMO comes even close on Liquid Swords to those cuts neither lyrically nor production wise for me

Fixed Its funny because Half Time, Memory Lane, One Love and One Time 4 Your Mind are my favorites. Nas 3rd verse on One Love is iller then all fuck. But liquid swords has much better songs over all and more classics IMO
