Statik Selektah- 100 Proof (The Hangover)- 4.5 Stars

Alright, just ran through this a few times, so here we go!

Dope album. The intro sets a good mood for things to come, and it does it well. The album opens with So Close, So Far with Bun B and Wale. I'm not a real big fan of Wale, but he murders this track. Statik comes through with his normal soulful, sample based production. The production isn't quite as varied as his first album, but it's definitely not as repetitive as Stick 2 The Script. There are some stellar tracks production-wise, though (So Close, So Far, Come Around, The Thrill Is Gone). Most of the guests come through strong, with dope lyrics and concepts. Really, the only weak track (IMO) is Follow Me feat. Smif N Wessun (Not a fan of the beat or lyrics on that one). Overall, this is a solid release, and a good way to kick off 2010.

Yeah it is. This Cons track has me fiending for his new CD. Fuck what the haters say, Cons is dope on his first solo - his mixtapes are boring for the most part, but give him some banging beats and he gets the jobs done.

Boom - got this around 4.25 after one spin... the production is probably at 4.5 - but you got the weak Smif N Wesson track and not every verse on here is 100% fire... though for the most part emcees represent.

I've been bumpin' this non-stop the past couple of days... I would be inclined to call it 5 stars if it wasn't for the Smif N Wessun track. Don't sleep!

I give this about 4 stars. Has some great tracks but it seems like the thrill was gone for Statik for a lot of the album.
