| im not gonna vote on this one...i know the song and hear it all the time on Backspin, i just dont have the album and never really connected enough with Whodini to give an informed vote. Im sure if i was around when it dropped it may make my top 100 | |

| I agree with Slang. I don't vote on these threads because I don't know what was a single back in the day.
On a different note, no one ever votes top 25 on these singles. Honestly, how many of these songs have gotten more than 5 top 25 votes? Not many.

| Why do you feel you need to be around when the single was released to actually vote. I admit witnessing these singles first hand could alter your opinion, but it doesn't make your opinion or the opinion of an older head any less valid. If you personally like 100 other singles more, i'd prefer you to vote neither. It's not like you don't have an opinion on The Message or Rapper's Delight. So why not have an opinion on this? Only a handful of posters can remember this song when it was actually released. Actually Powell and GKIII are the only ones i can think of since this was released in 83 or 84. Kev, Norf, and KJ still may have been too young then.

Kev,Norf and KJ remember this joint when it was released just like I do Terry.....Kev and Norf are what 34 and KJ is also about 34.....I'm 38 so that 4 year gap isn't enough for them not too remember man...now GKIII probably has the clearest memory of it but I think all of the mentioned remember this moment As far as what Slang said regarding this I actually agree with his thought process here....you younger heads may have somewhat valid opinions on monumental moments such as The Message or Planet Rock or Rapper's Delight...but something like this one or 8th Wonder or Mr.Bigstuff may not be as clear to you if you weren't able to feel/witness the impact...this sounds like one of those moments...so Slang I agree with your thought process here man!

| Maybe Kev, KJ and Norf do remember it. I have no idea. but they are like 5 years older than me. I was 3 in 1984 so that would make them around 8. I can't speak for them, but i do know my memories are a little fuzzy when i was 8. Also, actually witnessing the song doesn't prevent the listener from voting. Pounds and i are the same age, and we both voted top 100. I may even vote higher for Friends and One Love.
Whodini flies under the radar way too much. They deserve a lot more credit than they get.

| Well, technically, I haven't voted on any of these singles threads. I don't know what songs were singles (back in the day) and what wasn't, so I wouldn't be able to vote accurately | |

Whodini flies under the radar way too much. They deserve a lot more credit than they get. Yeah I agree, One Love is my fav song from them with this one a close second. Funky Beat and Friends are borderline but could make my list with some thought. I used to bump the hell outta Whodini back in elementary school. Them along with Run-DMC and The Fat Boys were the first rap groups I followed. |
