I like Chicago if we can include their underground scene like Diverse, Capital D, Iomos Marad, Rashid Hadee, Astonish, Longshot, and the Molemen production team.

I wouldn't call it a suburb, but it's only about 35-45 minutes from downtown Detroit.

Lupe Fiasco is also from Chi-Town. I like Em, Slum Village, and the late Breed but Chicago wins for me.
